Which Thai place? The one in the same complex as the movie theater, Ruby Tuesday and Ted's Grill?

+1 about Whole Paycheck. Within walking distance and a great place to get hot food too.

Across the street from Starbucks on the corner. My wife and I liked it. Not sure what happened to the other poster, but the food and service was good.

For better Thai, go to Sam Pho on King Street, 1100 block.

-cheers

I will be at this property this weekend.

Is the lounge now open on the weekends for breakfast and Hors d'oevres, and if not do platinums now get vouchers for the restaurant on lieu of the lounge not being open?

We were given weekend vouchers for the restaurant, but was extremely limited. Coupons were given by FD.

Thanks singtx. Were you given these vouchers due to a corporate rate plan that includes them, because you asked for them, or provided because they are given to anyone with status?

I stayed last weekend at this hotel and was upgraded to a Club Room as a Gold member. The room itself was adequate and I was given the option to decline housekeeping for 500SPG points. Front desk was helpful and courteous and the free shuttle was useful, though extremely limited in range. I booked a rate which included breakfast and was given two coupons for each day of the stay to use at Jamieson Restaurant and was allowed to order from the entire menu, the bill was north of $50 for two people each morning so this was quiet a good deal.

FYI the bar and restaurant at the hotel closed and are under renovations due to reopen approximately 2 weeks. Good Thai place across street and short walk to Whole Foods.

Any updates on this property? I see that I posted about staying at this property but to be honest... I don't even remember! I'm going nuts.

Stayed here several times and put all family here when visiting as we live walking distance.

Good plat breakfast on weekends when lounge is closed. Order off the menu - one main item, one side item, juice and coffee - no bill just give them the coupon.

Lounge is nice with what I consider good, regular items, for AM and PM.

Gym is OK, pool is small with lifeguard.

Shuttle service. Walkable to King Street metro and King Street. A few restaurants near by and Whole Foods.

The area is dead after 5PM and on weekends...but your by Old Town and the metro.

New restaurant is good. One of the bartenders came from another great Bar (Px) and serves good drinks.

I stayed here a few months ago. It was a pretty decent experience:

I went on the weekend so I got a certificate for breakfast. I think it was worth $20 and easily covered my meal and coffee. It's in an area of town that is more business and residential in focus so as others have noted, it's pretty dead after a certain time. That said, there are a few cute restaurants that are within walking distance.

As for an upgrade - I got the regular club floor upgrade. Got a regular King room the first time near the elevator; the door lock lost power and needed new batteries so they put me in another King room a floor lower also near the elevator. This is clearly a first world, Platinum problem. In fact, it was only notable since everyone at the front desk noted that the hotel was empty and I was one of the few guests. It was quiet though, and the room was comfortable and the staff was warm.

Just a update on parking around the Westin. The city of Alexandria changed the parking rules in the area. Now you have to get a paper ticket from the meter from 8am to 9pm (was 5pm), Monday-Saturday (Saturday was free before the change) Meter is only for 2 hours at a time, so you may want to look into valet if you plan on driving to this hotel.

Had a short, first stay Th-Sat using 10k points/night, a great bargain during high season

Pros:
--Quiet rooms (and that's saying a lot considering I was there during summer tourist season
--Very friendly front desk staff
--Got a Gold upgrade (comp'd lounge access)
--Lounge was empty (Th PM)
--MAGC-eligible
--Prompt and courteous shuttle

Cons:
--Lounge closed on weekends
--Shuttle goes ~2 miles on-demand, including King Street Metro Station, but not DCA, so a real PITA if you have bags
--Location is safe and quiet, but too far off the beaten path to be ideal for tourists
--Limited number of restaurant delivery options

If rates are close, I'd go to the Westin Arlington Gateway (Orange Line) next time.
