I tried the above link to the 25K promo, but it didn't work for me. Anyone have any other referral links?

I can send you a referral - I just need your email address. See your PM.

Application success! Woo hoo!

I already have a Starwood personal AMEX card, but with only a $2k limit (and have tried unsuccessfully to get a credit limit increase).

Applied tonight over the phone for the Starwood Business card and was approved! With a $3k limit! Go figure!

Bonus points, here we come! :p

15,000 point bonus not posting

I had the AX card now for 1 year. While the initial 10K signup posted, the 15K for $ 15K spend in the first 6 months never did. I inquired several times since last fall, just to be told they requested the points credit. Today an agent informed me, that they would most likely not honor it, because I got that 25K bonus on a card back in 2008! :td:

Beware!

Just wondering if there is any success with getting another bonus if I had my last SPG card and bonus in 2005.

I've had two personal & two business cards over the last 5 years. Business cards were for separate businesses and were about 4 yrs apart. Personal cards were about 5 yrs apart. Received bonuses on all four.

I'd say go for it.

Where did you get the number to call? Did you use a referral? Thanks for the info!

No, I didn't use a referral. Actually, I tried to apply online, but there was a problem with the "Submit" function of the application, so AMEX supplied a phone number to call. Sorry, I can't remember the number -- but I think it was just the general customer service line.

philemer: did you go for the $15k/15K points bonus as well, or just get the 10K sign-up bonus?

jeffo Mar 3, 2011 9:59 pm

This is not an ideal situation, but, if you want to increase your credit limit, send them money. Fortunately I was able to send $10,000 from my business to increase my credit limit from $1000 to $11,000. Of course you aren't earning any interest on your money, but at least you have a higher credit limit. Then pay off the bill each month and keep the $10k there for your credit limit. Defeats the purpose of a credit line, but also tells AMEX that they aren't going to take away my ability to charge for SPG points.

Just the 10K pt. bonus. A few weeks later the 30K bonus appeared and my wife got that one. :)

Be careful with this. It sounds like your experience has been contrary to this, but some issuers (I'm not sure about Amex.) have been known to close accounts for overpaying an account, especially to the degree that you did (i.e. 10x your credit limit). Apparently, this is a way that some people use to launder money, so issuers are very uncomfortable with this sort of activity.

I did it with one of my SPG Amexes - no problem.

I am sure this has been asked, or maybe it hasn't because it could be a stupid question. I have searched but didn't find any related threads with my keywords. Anyway I was thinking of cancelling my SPG Amex and was wondering if that will have any affect on my current SPG reservations that list the SPG AMEX card on it. I imagine no but thought you guys would easily be able to rattle off an answer.

Thanks for any help.

Only if they have to make a charge for a late arrival or no-show. But that's the same regardless of what credit card you used to guarantee your room.
