Curious if anyone has suggestions. I used my SPG Amex at an Autograph Collection (Artisan in Bogota) property. Amex did not pick it up as a Marriott property, so I didn't get the 2x points, and Amex is insisting there is nothing they can do about it. Any suggestions? (When Chase doesn't pick up the eligible stay automatically, I've never had a problem getting them to adjust it.)

Yikes. I have the same problem for a recent stay at the Milan Marriott where I spent several hundred bucks, and I'm not optimistic of the outcome when I contact them.

This can sometimes happen when properties aren't flagged on American Express' end for whatever reason. If you send us your SPG account details to the email address below, we can see if we can get it sorted.

Close SPG Personal or Biz

My wife has both personal and business SPG. Her annual fee is approaching for both. I would like her to keep one of them, is there a pro/con to keeping one or the other? Please advise. Thanks!

The business card gives you lounge access at Sheraton properties. Other than that, no real difference.

What about the affect on personal credit report? If I close the personal, won't it lower her credit utilization?

Yes your available credit goes down, but who carries a balance anyway? You can also transfer the credit line to a different card(including business) when closing. I'd keep the biz just for lounge access.

I am not talking about carrying a balance, I am talking about her credit score since much of it is utilization, so if she has about 15k in credit on the personal card, and uses very little of it, so her utilization is low that's great, but if she closes the account, her overall available amount of credit has just gone down, so wouldn't that lower her credit score? Also, when I tried to product change my SPG they wouldn't offer any options.

I've been opening and closing cards for the last 2 1/2 years and the only time I've taken a big hit (100ish drop) in my score was when I had over 30% on a card and that utilization was reported while it was high. It rebounded in about 2 months. My overall utilization (sum of all cards) was never that high. Not sure how she is using her cards, but if even after you close one you still aren't over 30% on any one card and all cards combined, then she should be ok. Hopefully, she's keeping it well below that.

The things which move credit scores are a total black box to me. Because I travel so much, I sold my condo three years ago; causing my credit score to drop roughly 100 points. Apparently the reason is that since I no longer owned any real property, there was nothing for creditors to go after in the event of a collection problem. The fact that I never carried a balance and always paid everything on time apparently was irrelevant. Go figure.

Abnormal posting delay - no points yet, mine have all typically posted on the 4th or 5th of every month going back a couple years now.

You don't have to carry a balance to show utilization.

If I have a $25k limit on the SPG card, charge $5k every month, and pay it off in full every month after the statement closes, my credit report will still show utilization of 20%.

Is anyone seeing retention offers on the SPG Business card? My wife's AF is due.

I cancelled mine last time, but I'm willing to close and re-open each year to avoid the AF.

I am a Marriott Visa card holder in Canada, its about to expire and I have received an offer for the SPG Amex and 25K points.
I have held the SPG card (once) a while ago (at least 4-5 years ago)
I know Amex is saying once per lifetime on all bonuses so obvious question is anyone get their bonus for this card again?
I thought I read somewhere that the once per lifetime kicked in on a certain date and that if you held it before then, you were OK.
Bottom line, should I bother applying as I don't want it if I don't get the bonus
(well really, I dont want to pay the fee unless I am getting a bonus)
