Confirmed, every one will get 4S 10N this year, even though they got email says 2S 5N. Just got my last 2S 5N, total 8S 10N for having both SPG cards. I am pretty sure this is because program merger is coming, this years's nights will be combined counts forwards 2019 status, 75 nights plat?

It's Marriott's fault.

I also got another 2/5 on top of my 2/5 from earlier for 4/10 total. Lol.

Do people carry the cards if they aren't SPG loyalist looking for the extra boost to Platinum? I wouldn't think so.
I carry both AMEX SPG personal and business cards to get me 10 nights closer to platinum, like everyone else, so I don't imagine too many more Platinums based on this SPG gift.

Another question would be if this boost gets someone to 75 nights 2018, how would "4x Starpoints per stay" work if the SPG program goes away in 2019?
I'd hope Marriott offers some sort of additonal earning bonus.

Why wouldn't they? It's one of the best everyday spend cards there is. With all the airline transfers, and the 25% bonus, there are no points more valuable than SPG.

After one 4-night stay, and both the business and personal cards, I now have 24 nights and 9 stays. So 4 stays and 10 nights from each card? Is that in line with what everyone else is getting? I didn't get an email

i just saw my 2nd set of points come in today. so weird that they would do that. im 1 stay away from gold! :]

I find it hilarious that people continue to post here and give spg the attention to possibly remove these freebies. Why can't you just stay quiet and let it be?

Yeah, I guess you're right. For me personally, I don't see it as enough of a benefit even with it being the best everyday spend card (which it is!) without being an SPG hotel Platinum chaser, since the biggest points collecting after the sign-up bonus would be the additional points accrued for staying at SPG/Marriott properties.

My post was a tongue-in-cheek reference to a misguided / likely false thread in the Marriott forum insisting Starwood was flooding Marriott with Platinums :p

Uhh, I have 10s25n. I have both cards. I haven't stayed with Starwood yet this year.

How does the email prove that it's not a mistake?

It proves it's not a mistake because the emails specifically states: 'As a Card Member, you can look forward to receiving this credit for 4 stays and 10 nights annually.' So presumably this is per card. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4059249544.jpg
