SPG AMEX
I spend about 25k/year in SPG hotels with my Amex platinum. Am I foolish for not getting the Amex SPG card at this point?

Has anyone seen this offer? I literally signed up for this card 3 weeks ago for the 25k bonus offer and of course an even better offer comes down the pipeline. Has anyone heard of this happening where the customer calls up and due to the proximity of the application for the initial offer vs the new offer that AMEX will honor the new bonus amt for the customer (assuming they hit the necessary threshold?).
I tried once with a customer rep who said it's not possible but I swear I've heard people have luck doing this.

Too bad that SPG Amex 35K offer requires significantly more to spend.

Just a small warning:
If you're keen to get busy meeting the spend requirements, you will likely be given the option to receive your card number right away (via a process of texting a one-time PIN, etc). If you get to Step 3 and click to download the Ts&Cs, the process might hang, and then you're out of luck and will have to wait on the actual card (and in my case, I won't be home for quite some time, so I'll be behind the spend curve).

Upgrade to 35K offer
Thank you Fredc84 for your advice.
I got an SPG card 2 months ago with a 30K offer. I just saw the new 35K offer today and tried calling AmEx. I was told clearly that they do not and cannot upgrade such offers.
I was going to give up, but decided to check here. Based on the message from Fredc and the link he gave, I tried again, asking for courtesy points, and was granted an extra 5K. I really appreciate the advice.

Just submitted an app and got a get back to you later message. Not sure why. Don't have too many other Amex cards and didn't have the card prior. Call recon?

Thanks for the news on this offer. I applied Thursday morning and was approved instantly. ^
I had the SPG Amex several (8ish) years ago but that evidently was not an issue.

Be careful, they will still approve you and just not give you the bonus points. Happened to my dad when this offer came around last year. I believe he had the card 5 or 6 years prior to the application.
