SPG Participation Policy

There are no standard rooms at this resort; therefore, Starpoint Award reservations must be booked at a higher Starpoint rate through your local customer contact center. Also, since all accommodations are either suites or villas, upgrades for Starwood Preferred Guest members do not apply.

Non-Smoking Policy

Seclusion Day Information: March 9, 2016

Nyepi, known as the “Day of Silence,” marks the celebration of the Balinese New Year in the Hindu Lunar calendar. A spectacular procedure of ceremonies, parades of great bamboo monsters, and fireworks occur on the Eve of Nyepi, followed by a day of total silence and seclusion. The community strongly believes that if the island is silent and dark, the bad spirits will leave and the new year will start in peace. During Nyepi, from 6am until 6am the next day, the island stops. Nobody is allowed in the streets, use of electricity is restricted, and the international airport is closed.

In 2016, Nyepi will fall on Wednesday, March 9. Please note that check-in and checkout will not be possible on Nyepi Day, and Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) will be closed. Some of the resort facilities will operate as usual; however, there will be no transportation services to and from the resort, and televisions will not be available. Lights will be dimmed inside and there will be no outdoor lighting. Our pools and garden areas will still be accessible except for the beach. Only indoor seating will be available at Boneka Restaurant. Gourmand Deli will close at 8pm. King Cole Bar will remain closed.

We kindly invite you to respect this sacred day and observe these restrictions. Normal activity in Bali will resume at 6am on Thursday, March 10.

We only spent a day in Seminyak but the beach off of La Cucciola was pristine...just with very heavy surf.

If we go back we would stay there rather than Nusa Dua...SE Asian version of Cancun IMHO (Nusa Dua), but with better food

Yes, they are different in size and shapes, since every villa has unique design, but each villa has private pool. I would not be looking for those, but would choose Lagoon villa right away. This is unique feature of this property and you should be going for that.

Is breakfast and airport transfer also included when using SPG free nights? Seems to be for all paid nights, but can't get a clear answer when using points.

Hi Slariz,
Buffet breakfast, airport transfer, concierge at airport and on-call butler service are all included with SPG Award reservations, just as they are with cash rates.
Happy Planning.

Why such a huge variation in suite sizes?

St Regis Suites
990-2,034 Square Feet / 92-189 Square Meters
I understand Plats don't get upgrades here, but do they get larger suites within the same category?

They actually reclassified some suites to be a bit more clear on this for guests like us, but size is truly different, however air conditioned space is pretty much the same.

Here is how it goes per my observation:

Normal Suite
Pool suite - x2 Normal due to outdoor space counted
1-Bedroom Suite with terrace - 3rd actual floor, 5th per their system. x2 the pool.

Upgrade to a Gardenia Villa for $175/night?

Received the offer below. Would like your thoughts on if i should take it or try to upgrade at check-in. We are currently in a suite with plunge pool.

Gardenia Villa. The alluring Villa experience is one of absolute privacy and seductive indoor and outdoor living. In Gardenia Villa, the journey begins with a private entrance adorned with tropical plants, the sound of water, and small, sculpted aquatic creatures—ducks, turtles, and frogs.

Enjoy great savings and upgrade now at only $175++/room/night instead of the regular rate of $350

Admittedly I only read every other page of this thread looking for the answer, but I can't seem to figure out what exactly a "one bedroom suite" (the 2nd category after "st regis suites") entails. Strangely, pictures of the entire suite are hard to come by. We're looking for the standard "pool villa" experience, but at 1100+, the gardenia villas are a bit out of my price range. It does seem like the one br suite has a plunge pool, but how private is the area around the suite? How large is it and how is the pool? Does anyone have pictures from their visit?

TIA

How far is St Regis from Westin/Laguna, two side-by-side SPG properties, in Nusa Dua?

Using the road it is a 5 mins drive. It is 2 km away. Walking along the beach, it is about 20 minutes.

Just got back from 5 nights at the St. Regis. It was simply amazing. I used 30K SPG points for a suite. At check in, I inquired about an upgrade. Was offered Gardenia for $200 per night or Strand for $400 per night. Took the Gardenia and could not have been more pleased. My only regret is that i didn't accept the upgrade offer they sent me via email for $25 less per night. The villa was large and very nice. Good size pool and bale. Lots of privacy, especially as compared to the lagoon villas. The staff at the hotel was great.

Anyone use SPG Suite nights here to upgrade from a standard award reservation? Gold now, very close to Platinum and wondering if it is worth a mattress run before staying here in a few months.
