Seeing as I have no personal authority to do anything in regard to the Four Points by Sheraton Miami Beach, what would be your suggestion? Thanks.

While you are a very helpful guy, you are not a magician, William :D;)

I have no personal knowledge on internal workings within a company such as yours, so I guess I'm just talking.I have no idea what you can or can't do. I just assumed the reason you're lurking is to know what's being said about your company, and here's a thread that I'm sure provides you with valuable information.

Thanks cheap elite and tommy777, I'm currently trying to work my way towards a marriott rez, but if it doesn't work out, I'll definitely consider the diplomat.

Any idea how long the drive can be from the diplomat to SoBe?
When is the W opening, by the way?

PS: what marriott is everyone raving about btw? the courtyard oceanfront?

Boy do you need to learn your way around FlyerTalk. ;););)

The drive from the Diplomat could range from 20 Min to an hour BASED on traffic that day.

The SoBe Marriott property I've heard good things about is the Hotel Victor. I don't know anything about any other Marriott property. Again, I suggest checking out the Florida and Marriot forums.

This is a Hyatt property. I like it a lot. However, it is quite expensive, or takes 18K Hyatt points (their top category) to redeem a free night.

:eek::eek:
Sorry Benjh for giving the wrong info!

Shows you how much I know about other brands and how loyal I am to Starwood. :D

I've decided to stick with SPG and book at the diplomat. I'm curious to drive by the 4pts and check it out though... Thanks Cheap Elite for your help.

And I want to apologize to William. As was suggested, I still don't know my way around flyertalk (and proper manners). I didn't mean to offend or patronize any person or organization. See I'm even staying loyal (and I'm not even Gold)!

Here's an idea you might consider:

The Westin Diplomat is on the ocean as well about 8-9 miles up the road. They have a cash and points offer for the dates you were visiting the area (category 5)

4800 Starpoints + USD 90.0 per night for two nights = USD 180 and 9600 points
Third night: 12K points

Grand total: USD 180 and 21.600 points.

I'm with Tommy on this one - I just spent a long weekend at the Diplomat and its a really nice hotel. His C&P + free nights plan looks to match your travel budget too. If you are driving to Miami Beach, there is public parking, but it tens to fill up. Last time I was there, I arrived at noon and got the last space in the garage at about 12th (maybe 14th?) street - which by the way was a great place to park and I think cost $4. Plus even though I didn't get upgraded when I was there do to full capacity at the hotel, Diplomat has a good reputation for upgrades (if you are platinum).

There is no reason to apologize to me. My inquiry was a serious one...to see if there was something that someone else thought I might be able to do about this, but still remain within my prescribed bounds of authority.

I mean, I can forward threads internally, and I've done that plenty of times (in this instance as well), but it is never going to be as effective as a former guest calling Hotel Customer Service every time they have a hotel-related complaint. That ends up on reports, which affect Guest Satisfaction Indexes, which send red flags to corporate management, etc.

Anyway, I see that Starwood is about to launch a partnership to gain more internet knowledge regarding individual hotel performance, so in the future, merely reporting something on a web site like Trip Advisor will result in the same thing. Even then, I would still report any shortcomings to Hotel Customer Service.

Thanks for the info, Flyertalk. After reading this thread, I'm going to shell out the extra $90 and stay at the Meridien in Sunny Isles. (And there is a 500/night bonus starpoints for the 4 points.) Sorry about your luck, 4 points.

You dont have to tell me, you saw my earlier post. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to stay here...well yeah I would, but it's still the worst starwood property on earth!

This property is NOT on South Beach. Until the W South Beach opens (scheduled for March '09) you'll have to stay at another brand.
