I had about six stays here last June and July, so it's been six months or so.

I like this hotel a lot. FD always upgraded me to a suite because of my Platinum status, so no need to use SNAs here. The suites are clean, though you might find the decor outdated (I thought it was fine). The living room has a fold out couch bed, desk, "kitchenette" (sink and refrigerator), etc.

One week I checked in to find a bottle of wine waiting for me, which was a nice touch.

Also, this property is dog friendly, and I did have my border collie with me. Everyone at the FD loved him.

Another week the power went out because a transformer in the area blew out (wasn't the property's fault). However, everyone was given points as compensation, which was unexpected but cool.

Location-wise you're right next to City Centre so there are tons of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Parking at the hotel is free, too. (Not a covered garage though)

Only thing is that you're right next to I-10 and the beltway. If you're sensitive to noise, it can get loud. Also, avoid any rooms facing the swimming pool on the first floor. One of my co-workers got a room like that one week and said there was a large gap between the bottom of the door and the floor.

Hope that helps - let me know if you have any questions!

Yeah, I didn't know either until I checked in. That's interesting though... maybe call the property directly and see if you can book over the phone?

I believe this is a description of the Four Points West in Houston as opposed to Southwest, particularly given the noted proximity to City Centre.

Ahh, oops you're right! I misread the thread title. Four Points Houston Southwest is right next to 59 and near Kirby and all that... never stayed there before, though. My apologies! Maybe the mods can delete my post?

Just an FYI, this hotel has renamed itself the Four Points by Sheraton Houston Greenway Plaza.

The name change might be because the hotel wants to be associated with the more prestigious nearby Greenway Plaza area, rather than the less-than-prestigious Southwest Freeway it sits on.

It also is just about finished with a property refurbishment, and I suspect its rise from a Category 2 to Category 3 the other day, is more based on hopeful spec rather than actual current realized revenue.

Perhaps a mod can change the thread title?

i thoroughly like this hotel. yeah the hallways are dated af, yeah the west facing rooms are hot (ask for a north facing one), but the rooms are modern and very very clean. location is lit and for the price this place is ^^^^. staff are great and that bar is decent. you're also in a really good location, tons of great ballets and eateries nearby (houston standard)..bb's, goode company, 100% taquito, and now this during lunch http://www.houstoniamag.com/articles...ston-right-now

this is probably the lowest of 4 points/moderate low end marriott, but seriously i cannot find a fault with this place...well cartoon network was a bit blurry last time i stayed

stayed here again, lobby and gym remodelled. rooms the same (reno'd a few years ago). no complaints, good rate and agents are friendly.

$10 a night for parking now, it was a write off for me so not a problem. i think you can park on the nearby street for free, i didn't look into that.

or maybe if you buy a bong or something from katz across the street they'll let you park in their lot

Thumbs down

I stayed here recently.

Rooms were okay sized. Staff were great, but cleaning was not up to par. HAIR was found on bd and inside folded towels and these were obviously not mine!

As for the pool it is small and right next to the freeway so noise is a issue there.

The area was good, plentybof restaurants near by.

No fridge in room, no bottle openers either nor was the hotel able to get one to the room!

Tv was working but rather small for the room. Outside windows were very dirty, but the view was a parking lot so I did not really look outside!

Upon leaving I tried to get a uber to the airport, I was having trouble vonnecting to the wifi so the Assistant GM just said take this guy hes a trusted hotel driver and he will drive you to the airport cheaper then uber! Okay so I should have known better uber app was quoting 27-36$ to the airport the "trusted driver" asked 108$ at the airport 👎👎

I sent a email to the hotel AND the GM but suprise suprise NO reply 👎

As it was I would have returned here but this mess left a sour feeling!

My own fault for trusting, I should have known better for sure but I have not had issues like this other then in SE Asia and russia. But I certainly expected atleast a response from the hotel!

My apologies if you got no response from trying to reach the hotel directly. Sometimes the best way to get their attention (and a response) is to file a formal complaint with Corporate Customer Service. You can reach them via email at [email protected] or, if you rather, send the details to us at the email address below and we will open the case file on your behalf.

Thanks,

I rarely have had a issue that was not handled by hotels but the lack of response made me suspect this was not a isolated incident. Too bad as the stay experience until then would have resulted in returning to the property many times!

i am a huge fan of this property. like flyertalk #apologist level. while weekend rates for any aloft or any spg hotel other than sheraton brookhollow or 4pts hobby or that new bush 4pts is at least $119, i found a same day last minute rate on a sunday at 89usd or 4000spg. this is +/-5 my 20th stay here.

the staff are chill and probably too flippant for most flyertalkers. the hallway also probably too dated. but the rooms are modernly decorated, the rooms very well kempt, they have bathtubs (unlike most new high end hotels *AHEM*). honestly this place is marketed as a 2.75* and i would say within the room you're at a 3.5*. yeah the pool sucks royally, yeah the rooms have that weird void at the corner near the window, but the gym and its free weight setup is 100%, again the rooms and bathroom are very clean and well kempt, and honestly they keep making improvements every time i come back (latest was lobby and in the rooms new 50 inch tvs with full at+t satellite remote+scrolling+guide [ie you can watch tv normally, normal being pre-Kodi 2012 tv watching])

apart from the fact that parking now costs $10 overnight (negated by anyone to just park across the street in an unzoned area for $0), this hotel rocks. yeah the pool sucks (freeway noise, giant wall), but i have never been let down here. especially for the price you pay

and have i yet said this places takes its tv serious? honestly i have stayed in some nice properties and never have i seen this selection let alone ease of scrolling (ie at+t satellite tv guide ease of use, let alone a 2 second delay before channels). this property is seriously underrated and i'm worried spg will drop it and/or it'll rise a couple categories soon. again, not the most modern hallways or staff, and it is a 4points, but i'd say by far 5x the best value'd spg in houston after brookhollow. and maybe the iah 4points but only because they desperate for bidness.
