Earning when dining at Marriott hotels
Does anyone know what the situation is with earning on restaurant spend while not staying at the hotel? (NB: not referring to Marriott Eat Around Town).
It's been a long time since I tried to do this, but I was given to understand that this was held over from the ex-Starwood brands (Westin, Sheraton, etc).
I saw Dine & Earn with Marriott Bonvoy (separate from Eat Around Town) which awards on dining spend at Marriott restaurants with a linked card - but hardly any restaurants are on that.
At the Walt Disney World Swan/Dolphin/Reserve, I found they actually have a separate, parallel loyalty program (completely independent from Bonvoy) called "Swan & Dolphin Rewards", on a separate old-fashioned platform, and is in fact very generous. But they didn't know about earning Bonvoy points on dining spend, even though there was a reference to it on the receipt.
Is the (SPG style) form filled out in triplicate totally dead now, and there's no longer any universal or by-legacy-SPG-brand benefit? Sorry if this post is a little ignorant, but I've been absent from Marriott for quite a few years

You can earn points without staying in restaurants on this website:
https://www.morecravings.com/en
However, in my (limited) experience its almost never a smooth process in practice.

Hello CD747,
A Marriott Bonvoy Member can earn points for food and beverage charges, even when not staying, at participating outlets located at certain Participating Properties as listed here: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/earn-redeem.mi
Please feel free to contact us if we can be of any assistance.

Hi Rylan, You would need to link your credit card through the website https://www.marriott.com/en-us/earn-redeem.mi. Just having the credit card associated with your account wouldn't work.

Except if you click on the 'Link your credit card' link, all it does is go to your Marriott account profile and no indication of where this information is supposed to go. My credit card is already saved in the Payment & Billing section of my profile, and there are no other places to actually enter a card.

Hi Rylan, If you had a recent qualifying dining charge and a receipt, please feel free to send a private message with more details including your full name, email address, and the location and date of a recent stay credited to your account, and we'd be glad to follow up.
Thanks,

I have the same issue as Rylan; no place to "link" anything.
thank you,

I had a recent qualifying dine in Feb, however I no longer have the restaurant receipt, only the charge on my credit card.
It seems unfortunately that this program is impossible to actually use.

I dont get how this is even supposed to work. All card payments at Bonvoy-affiliated restaurants around the world are cross-referenced against these registered cards? That seems hardly likely and might actually be impossible, even if this registration link were working.
I have only ever received such points via a retroactive claim, and obviously thats only worth it for significant bills.

You simply tell them you would like to earn Bonvoy points from your spend. They will either collect your Bonvoy information and scan your QR code which can be found in the Wallet section of your Bonvoy mobile app. It is not related to what credit card you are using.
