The evening hospitality hour has been discontinued - again by Marriott corporate. They make it sound like they are unable to alter these policies locally. Of course the prices have not decreased.

May I ask which brand? It's curious as the full-service brands seem to have no issue defaulting to daily refresh services. I don't have many multi-night stays, but that's what I've experienced at Westin/Marriott properties in the US.

Hmm, perhaps, RI (and probably TPS) properties have been given that guidance?

February 2023... the Springhill Suites Orlando Convention Center's still doing housekeeping every 4 days... They also still have mask posters up everywhere around the property, although no one was wearing them anywhere. They're milking this "because of COVID" crap for way too long.

It’s probably already been mentioned in this thread, but extended-stay properties, of various different chains (not just Marriott), have often had policies of less-than-daily housekeeping (with exceptions on request), long before COVID even started.

I started staying at Marriott since 2011 and all the extended stay I stayed all of them provided daily housekeeping (my stays were not long term stays). I know that Candlewood Suites offers housekeeping every 7 days regardless of the length of stay.

Personally, I don't need or care for daily housekeeping services, but I can understand how someone else may want them. It is disappointing to arrive at a hotel and find out they only provide housekeeping twice a week when you want it daily.

Perhaps a good solution is provide the housekeeping arrangement for each Marriott brand hotel right on the website and in the app. Something like "this property cheerfully provide housekeeping every other day (Or once a month, or only by request, etc.) The customer can then decide whether they still want to stay at that hotel. This information need to be provided before the reservation is made.

They do mention that if you click on the room details. I think it's great if they update the info including lounge opening hours. We expected a M lounge to be open during the holiday period as there was nothing indicating otherwise at the time of booking. Also, no info about that in our reminder email either.

Westin Lake Mary doesn't tell you that they aren't doing housekeeping unless requested. It's annoying as .... cause they have no problem doing it daily upon request. The app now even has functionality for housekeeping requests upon check-in, I've seen it once or twice now checking in the past 6 months.

cubeman When was the last time you stayed at that Westin? I stayed there a few times last year and they weren't doing daily housekeeping but we were informed that upon check-in. We politely asked the housekeeping staff in the hallway in the mornings and they had no problem servicing our room.

That is frustrating. As a contrast, I’m currently staying at a Hilton also doing housekeeping on request; not only did they mention it at check-in, there’s a decal in the bathroom explaining the policy, AND they texted me the evening of check-in to explain how and when to request various services. I don’t like the trend, but if you’re going to do it, that’s the way.

Three years into this and still not missing housekeeping. Not missing the bed being redone in a weird way that I don't enjoy, not missing the super-bright alarm clock that I have clearly unplugged for a reason being plugged back in each day, not missing the housekeeper thinking they are being cute by lining up my toothbrush and other toiletries by hand right after scrubbing down the toilet. Different points of view I guess.

did you know that even before the pandemic you didn't have to deal with any of that? if you don't want housekeeping to do all that stuff you can just put the "do not disturb" thing on your doorknob.

Yes, I was aware. I find it a benefit to not have to do that. And despite your tremendous expertise and insight, you may even be surprised to hear that said signs were not always respected by housekeeping.
