Breakfast price was applied to my bill and I eventually called and got $60 taken off...as there were two of us, was I entitled to $120 off or is the benefit only $60 per room? Thanks for any help.

It's $30 per person (max $60 per room) per day.

Thanks; I had heard $60 but didn't understand whether it was per person or per room.

Does $30 cover anything at breakfast?

Covers the full american or a few other mains: https://www.mirurestaurant.com/menus/

It seems like a setup, though, where they know that you'll end up spending $45-55 per person on breakfast. A $40 per person credit would actually coffer breakfast + juice + coffee and would seem like more of a good faith effort towards covering "breakfast" IMO, even though the T&Cs are vague enough that they could choose to just cover a meager continental and call it a day.

I am just a lowly Gold, so breakfast for me, but are there any good restaurants within 1-2 blocks for breakfast or dinner?

If you haven't already visited, or for any future visitors looking at this thread, here are some good options in close proximity:
  • Eggy's Diner (breakfast)
  • Labriola (one of my favorites)
  • Robert's Pizza
  • Purple Pig
  • Giordano's (a bit touristy, but they have both tavern style and deep dish pizza and it's good)

It's really what I hate about marriott. Status is inconsistent across brands (e.g. breakfast at JW is like ~$10 voucher, none at EDITION, etc), the breakfast is then varied across hotels for how good they're going to enforce the T&Cs, etc. Although looks like pancakes and juice is ~$30 so at least there's something but not great.

Have stayed at this place 3 times, and each stay has declined in quality. The first one in May 2024 was fantastic, upgrade to a caroline astor suite, champagne at check in, beautiful welcome amenity in room and was showed to our room by the associate. The second visit in January 2025 was only upgraded one level to the river view base room which had an awkward layout. No greeting at check in nor welcome amenity of any kind. The most recent visit this month has been extremely underwhelming. I've already downgraded my brilliant card and am planning on closing both my bonvoy amex. There's just too much inconsistency with the breakfast credit feeling cheap and the location is poor.

Won’t be surprised if and when StR has its benefits downgraded to align with R-C…only a matter of time IMO

Ive stayed here four times, each time applying an NUA and getting upgraded. They took away the option to upgrade into Caroline Astor suites, though the suite option they did offer was still reasonable in terms of space and layout.

i will second that they used to give out sparkling wine or pink lemonade, which was a small, but really nice touch even giving us a bottle one time. This last time, there was nothing. It’s less a complaint and more just a note of subtraction by subtraction.

so far, I’ve tended to favor st Regis over ritz Carlton because of exactly the fact that I do feel like the benefits are better, but agree with the other post that companies seem to be removing benefits, not adding them.

I agree. I get that obviously Marriott is a business, but the scraping and skimping on elite benefits at their flagship properties and brands seems tacky in my eyes. And I’ve been unimpressed with the property and staff on their own merits compared with the Waldorf, 4S, and PH in town.

Should note that during my stay over the weekend I ordered coffee through the butler service, and later noticed a $40 charge on my bill despite not having signed for anything. When I asked the front desk, she advised that property management made the decision to "discontinue offering butler service" a few months ago and that they've received a number of guest complaints. I asked to be transferred to manager line but was sent straight to voicemail, so I've left a message and opened a case with Marriott. I thought that complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings is a brand standard benefit? You'd think at the very least they should disclose that they don't offer that prior to charging for the drinks?

I stayed in a suite ten days ago (NUA) and had tea from a butler with no charge added.

that’s ridiculous! At minimum, the fact that you didn’t sign anything should be enough to justify removal of the fee

Isn't butler service the whole brand standard of the St Regis?

cjglick Feb 18, 2025 10:24 am

Right - I even confirmed prior to the order on the app that all room levels include butler service so it shouldn't be the difference between whether it was a suite or not. Honestly given how limited use there is for the butler service I'm a little stunned by how cheap they're being.
