Other thing that bothers me about this hotel is most of the menu for room service is done at 10 PM. The late night menu is quite limited, and often with business travel I'll get in late. Nit picky, but for a 5* hotel I'd expect a little better than the 10 PM menu really just being a pizza and like 2 other items.

that said, don’t sleep on the chocolate chip cookie. It was amazing.

Stayed this past weekend for one night on an expiring certificate. NUA did not clear and no room upgrade was received. Didn't press the front desk for anything as we had plans and just wanted to drop our stuff off prior to leaving.
Checked in around 8pm.
On a positive note, a breakfast credit of $70 mentioned as a choice instead of points.
Echo what others have said before about the property, outside of breakfast, the experience was very average at best.
Attempted to call the front desk in the morning to arrange for a late checkout, no answer on a couple of tries. Had to handle in person.
Breakfast was by far the highlight of the stay. The food was excellent. The restaurant overlooks the river and provides wonderful views. Didn't feel rushed at all by staff as we drank our coffee and lingered.
Lastly, Miru does charge a 3.5% fee to cover rising costs that can be removed when asked. I did ask the waiter if this fee goes to staff at all. It does not. It was not a problem to have it removed. Just annoying.

Yes they have been playing games since they opened....

Stayed over Lollapalooza weekend for 2 nights and put in a NUA that was approved for the Metropolitan Suite (highest room type that you can submit a request for is the St Regis Suite and the Metropolitan Suite is one below that I believe). Was a bit surprised the request got approved given the festival nearby!

The stay overall was very...okay. I certainly wouldn't spend the cash rates for this hotel - it didn't feel "special" enough. I had used 2 85k free night certificates on this, topped up as each night was about 100k points. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite buildings in the whole Chicago skyline, but it definitely feels like the residents come first here - the hotel only gets the first 9 floors, so I was on floor 4 with a very mediocre view. My view at the Hyatt Regency nearby was arguably better, which is pretty tragic given how much pricier this hotel is. I do like that it's in a "quieter" area of downtown Chicago though, but still close to everything (though it is worth noting that it's quite a long walk to the park - we got our steps in!). Check-in was fine, nothing special, no welcome drink or amenity. The front desk agent was very average (which isn't a good thing at a property like a St. Regis), but we did have a "butler" show us directly to our room and take our suitcases for us, which was a nice touch. We did receive a welcome amenity the next day when we were out of the room, a box of 4 chocolates that were quite delicious alongside a typed letter thanking me for my loyalty as a Titanium Elite and welcoming us to the "Best Address in Chicago". We didn't take much advantage of the butler service, but they did bring up a mini-fridge when I asked (since there's nowhere to keep drinks cold in the minibar), and they brought up extra water bottles with no hesitation when asked.

The room was very nice in general. It was quiet, modern, buttons to open curtains/sheer and tons of light controls in the living room, bedroom, and massive bathroom. The bathroom had comically large divided "rooms" for the toilet and the shower. It really felt like a waste of space...we had a huge soaking tub as well that we took advantage of! Bath salts were provided which I enjoyed. The dual vanity was spacious, water pressure was great, and overall everything felt clean and luxurious. I have to note that I don't love the scent-free products that they use here - not sure if this is brand standard (this is my first stay at a St. Regis property), but I was really hoping for something on par with Le Labo at Park Hyatts. The lotion and hand soap were both scent-free (which actually smells bad to me), but I enjoyed the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner scent. It does feel like the St. Regis brand caters towards older wealthy folks, but we did see a ton of young professionals at the hotel as well (though being in my early 30s, I did feel younger than most).

Valet parking is the only option here (~$90 I believe) so I ended up using SpotHero to secure a nearby spot at the Aqua garage for about $60/night with in/out privileges. It was a <5 minute walk to the garage, though the garage itself is quite a maze.

Miru was fantastic and a highlight of our stay - we went for lunch so didn't use the breakfast benefit (sleeping in due to late nights at the festival), but we were sat outside and it was absolutely gorgeous (both due to the weather and the views). They even provided fuzzy blankets for guests who got too cold with the breeze on the 10th floor! Note that Miru is very expensive though, easily $50-100 per person even for a light lunch. We didn't try Tre Dita as I didn't hear as many good things about that restaurant and there are several other great dining options nearby.

Overall, the reason I didn't love the stay is that for how grand the exterior is, the actual hotel part doesn't feel that special. The lobby feels...fine, and the rooms are fine. Certainly luxurious, but not significantly more than even the generic Marriott Marquis near McCormick Place. At least, not enough to justify 3-4x the price. I think I'll return to burn more 85k FNCs, and hopefully they'll change my mind in the future!

Great one night stay here using a 85k certificate with a few points to top up.

To Love:
  • Upgraded to a Deluxe River view room. Well done touches and design, great views, comfortable bed and great water pressure. Appreciated the walk in closet, the desk/table set up and sitting chair. No couch. Well insulated from noise. Slept like a log. Electronics, lights and drapery all worked great.
  • Fitness center was large, well equipped with Cybex equipment and had great views. One nitpick is it only had one cable machine and the three benches were always in use. Residents must also have access, so it was crowded on a Saturday AM.
  • House car, a Rivian, provided excellent drop offs within a 2 mile radius. Usually I dismiss this benefit, but car was available <5 minutes both times we needed it. Very informative and helpful driver.
  • Large indoor pool and sauna in the locker rooms. Very much appreciated! And we enjoyed the soaking tub in the room as well.
  • Breakfast at Miru was fantastic, even if $70 per room (not per person) credit was a bit limiting. Enjoyed the Tokyo Brunch and they made scrambled eggs to order. Note that sushi service doesn’t start until 10am on Saturday for weekend brunch. Service was cheery and they removed 3.5% service charge without issue. My only regret was not booking a table in advance by the windows!
  • Late checkout was noted at check-in, which was much appreciated. Offered a welcome water and sparkling wine.
  • Elevators were fast and readily available. Sometimes an issue in these high rise city hotels.
  • In room Nespresso machine is always appreciated.

To Debate:
  • Location wasn’t our favorite. Park Hyatt is our usual go-to and it’s in the action. The St Regis is tucked back to the lake. Not inconvenient, just off the beaten path.
  • Toiletries were a mishmash. Sachajuan is good stuff, but scent was forgettable and body wash and lotion were a different brand, Sodeshi, which was good quality but otherwise also unremarkable scent. Overall felt like a miss in such a nice hotel to not land a stronger impression.
  • No welcome amenity or butler engagement. Totally forgot we had a butler until I dialed “0” a few minutes before we left to ask a question. Should have ordered a morning coffee — totally forgot!

Overall, would definitely stay again. If anything we wished we had more time to enjoy the room.

Perhaps in real life it looks a lot more impressive, but wow, the hard product here looks underwhelming for a St. Regis level property - both the room and public areas basically look what you would get in a generic Marriott/Westin level property in Asia.

Just completed a weekend stay here.
Pros:
Restaurants are top notch. Can't ever get a reservation at TreDita, but the concierge got us in bc we were staying at the hotel...amazing food and service.
Breakfast at Miru was fantastic...gave you a $70 credit, and both days our breakfast was just over $100
-Comfortable bed
-Wife said spa was amazing...best in Chicago in her opinion. Gym was also very good and spacious.
Cons: Walked in to our room to find a half empty water bottle on the desk...other than that, the room was clean and cleaned well during our stay
-Hard product is high quality, but man the rooms are sparse. Not in a good way...rooms are very big, but just feel empty, especially the bathroom.
-Service was fine, nothing over the top.

Points just posted...didn't receive any points for spend in the hotel restaurants or the spa. Does anyone know if this is normal? Don't want to call and ask for the points if I'm not supposed to get them.

I can't say for the spa but you won't get points for the restaurants as both are not managed by the hotel.

Not sure if anyone else is getting this vibe, but this place looks like it was "purpose built" to be reflagged the moment corporate gets bored or don't like the T&Cs. Nothing about the décor or ambience says St. Regis to me… it’s more like “Insert Luxury Brand Here.” You could slap a Raffles or Waldorf or even a Langham sign on the door tomorrow and no one would notice.

It feels like a generic luxury hotel with zero design direction or brand DNA. When I think St. Regis, I expect that masculine edge with dark woods, grey undertones, a wine/decanter‑themed space, and a (library) bar with that large mural that makes you think of the Bloody Mary judging your life choices. I’m getting zero of that here.

Instead, it looks like it could be anything… which might be what they were intentionally going for here.

That's an interesting point, and one I had not thought of...wife and I felt that it didn't have a "theme or a sense of place"...kind of hard to put our finger on, but this is a great descriptor.
