From north Italy...

impossible to travel quite everywhere

even when not official restrictions from foreigner governments, all my meetings outside Italy have been cancelled by the customers

I hope I won’t need to cancel my next leisure trip to Dubai in April...

hard Times.

Surprised its only through end of March, since a lot of airlines canceled or reduced service until mid April or May.

It appears a lot of the travel industry is taking this a few weeks at a time; Marriott will likely push the dates as circumstances warrant.

cheers!

It's real. Go to marriott.com directly and the link at the top of the page takes you to the link OP posted.

Good of them to do the right thing.

I know it's real. "gj Marriott" for making it look like one.

  • Europe: Italy

For the most updated information, please refer to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or your local health authority.

Thank you for posting this, I had a hotel booked in Tokyo later this month and I was worrying about whether there would be a waiver. This has taken a load off my mind.

The URL looks like a phishing link, gj Marriott.

I'm sure many will appreciate the waiver though.

good job Marriott (sarcastic). (I guess - I’ve never seen it as an acronym before.)

every time a company like Marriott puts out a URL like that in an official communication, the public gets slightly more desensitised to unofficial-looking URLs and gets slightly more likely to fall victim to a phishing scam.

something like covid-19.marriott.com would be good. Only Marriott could create that. What they created could be bought by anyone for a couple bucks and follows the same general appearance (company name first with some other junk after hyphens) as most phishing domains.

Has anyone had luck canceling a pre-paid, non-refundable Marriott reservation for COVID-related reasons? If so, did you try through HQ or directly with the property? My work made me cancel my trip back to the US and I have two or three nights that I might just have to eat the cost because they are non-refundable.

I canceled a non-refundable reservation the day of check-in at AC Hotel Turin last week. Cancelled through the app. Did not get charged.

You should be able to cancel without penalty if you call Reservations and explain it's COVID-related (and get a refund) but Marriott's official waiver is for the Asia Pacific region and Italy currently.
