About $297 per night before taxes, incidentals, etc across 15 paid nights in 2019. Probably closer to $330 or so including all
spending. Brands include Marriott, Luxury Collection, W, Residence Inn, Courtyard, Autograph, JW Marriott. Stays mainly in North America with Canada and Europe
mixed in. Stays already booked for 2020 include Marriott, Courtyard, Ritz Carlton, Edition, W, JW Marriott, Residence Inn.

Quick perusal shows most who take out free/cc are averaging ~$200 per night. Except one fellow, nuhusky who clearly stays at nicer hotels than us and averages ~$300!
agree it is pointless including free nights to artificially lower nightly spend

wish i were staying at nicer properties. Higher spend from international travel and nyc. NYC is just so damn expensive for shoebox rooms

I don't understand the value of threads like this, but I do understand the attraction.

+100%

I am around $200 per night on paid stays. My spend is down from 2018. I have more Dallas & Atlanta stays this year compared to NYC & San Francisco in 2018. I did re-qualify Ambassador back in early October.

Although my counter reads 82 nights, only 41 were paid at $7676 which is $181/nt. But that’s not quite right as I redeemed 16 nights and had $720 incidental spends on those which feeds into the total. So the final figure is $170/nt, neither highest nor lowest...

So someone with 0 paid night would be $0/night average? Or even negative if we count the gift card Marriott has sent us?

haha, your NYC stays misled me! That's why I switched to Hilton for almost all stays in NYC. They are much more reasonably priced in NYC and surely not smaller in size.

Well played: anyway that you slice or dice it, even counting in bonus and award stays, under $60 per night is impressive. I'm guessing that your "territory" isn't in the great metropolises of the world.

im addicted to bonvoy points, would cause me pain to miss nyc earnings. My company pays the nyc rates and man I love those points from nyc. In nyc I always stay at the ren midtown. Not a high end property but I always walk away with a bunch of points

Based on Marriott’s method of counting spend ($20,612) divided by my paid nights (85) I came up with $249.50/night. That does not include my 15 credit card nights or seven “free” nights (point redemptions). Another year of Ambassador status. I hope it’s more satisfying than last year.

41 nights. $1999 USD in spend w most of that being food.

12 nights Luxury Collection

Rest St. Regis, African Pride, W

I'm burning up points & exiting Marriott. I still have points!!

Just had this week one of the worst experiences ever w Marriott where CS didn't add my son to reservation (my app didn't work so I called CS) & hotel wouldn't let my son stay in same room (12 & under). 4 1/2 hour check in hell. Finally property moved me to a room that my son could stay with us.

I'm done.

In what region is that property? In Japan, he has to be 6&under to avoid extra person charge. (11&under for Hilton)

Middle East. I would even pay for him to be in ( though I don't think I should as I booked 2 adults and a kid and have repeated messages to property about this) but property wouldn't let him in at all. check in person solution was buy him standard room for 6 nights at $1050 USD a night.

I have never experienced anything like this.

I’m at a depressing average of $307 across 76 paid nights, but I also earned an additional 50 bonus nights from a promotion earlier in the year that aligned with most of my international travel, which is what got me my Ambassador status. I’m pretty sure I won’t hit the 100 night threshold in 2020 (sadly, the $20k spend seems more likely) unless I get another double night promotion or signup for a credit card to augment the nights. We'll see.

This was my first year doing this much travel and from 2018, where I was Gold (and has maybe 30 nights, and that included some bonuses) and now, comparing my data from 12 months ago is kind of startling.
