FAQ from Jan 19/22 email from Marriott:
No. Due to varying factors such as low volume in demand, we are no longer selling Travel Package Awards as of January 19, 2022.
Q: What happens to the Travel Package Award I already have in my Account?
If you have a Travel Package Award attached to an existing Reservation, rest assured, we will be honoring your stay and no additional action is required.
Please Note:
The airline miles portion of the Travel Package Award was deposited to you at the time of purchase of the Travel Package Award and, therefore, will not be refunded.
Q: What happens if I need to modify or cancel my Travel Package Award redemption Reservation after March 2, 2022?
If you modify or cancel a Redemption Reservation that has a Travel Package Award attached to it after March 2, 2022, you must contact Member Support to cancel the Travel Package Award, after which you will receive a full Marriott Bonvoy® Point refund for the Hotel portion of the Award. Please visit https://www.marriott.com/help/loyalt...mer-support.mi to find the appropriate Member Support phone number based on your geographic location.
Q: How many Points will I be refunded?
Members will receive a full Marriott Bonvoy® Points refund for the Hotel portion of the Travel Package Award. The refund will be based on the current Points redemption category levels and will equal the sum of the Peak Points Redemption Rate per each Night of the Travel Package Award, at the highest category for which the Award was eligible. The airline miles portion of the Travel Package Award was deposited to you at the time of purchase of the Travel Package Award and, therefore, will not be refunded.

So for Cat. 4 or Cat. 5 it is advantageous (versus redeeming four days worth of points) to redeem a Travel Package even if only staying five days?
I haven't done a travelling package since 2016 (SAN) and 2017 (WAS). I really liked getting those UA miles then!

Sorry I have only done the calculations for 7 nights not 5. The 7 night also included the free 5th night.

Leaving aside the fact that most airline miles aren't worth the 60k --> 25k ratio, you'd be better off with a 5, 10 or 15 night award stay than a 7 nighter.
If you absolutely MUST stay one week in the same place with all nights peak award pricing and you are short of miles to take the whole family, then a Travel Package is at least relatively straightforward and not disastrously value-destroying...

I've never been able to use them in the past, didn't need the airline miles and normally would just take advantage of the get 1 night free with 4 nights action. I am trying to do a 7 night stay in germany, 4 in Munich and 3 in Berlin and use the miles as well. I called the desk and they said that the travel package could only be used at one location. I can swear that I read amazing stories here about how people have used them to bounce over all the islands in HI. So did something change and I just missed it? Or is this a case of the I should have trusted my spidey senses, hung up and called again to speak with someone more knowledgeable.
Thanks in advance,
Glen.
Thanks in advance,

It would really be nice if they'd offer such packages again.

Those were never meant to be available to the general public, only Marriott Vacation Club owners (even though I know a lot of people managed to get them). I think Marriott cracked down on that so perhaps you need to go through MVC website, or call in to request them.

Cant attach my cat 1-5 travel package
Just curious if anyone else went through this. Basically after 20 phone calls it became clear that the system was not allowing my travel.package to be attached to a reservation. The csr resolution team came.up with the idea to cancel out.my package and give me points to make up for it and use the points for my upcoming res. All that happened is they added a bunch of points and deducted them so I gained nothing and my reservation still shows that I need addl points... After weeks of reaching out all I'm getting is crickets. So o have no travel.package and no Marriott points in lieu of.it. It's not like this a missing 500 points welcome gift thing, this is over 100k points I'm missing. Not sure what else to do at this point

Reached out to lurkers last week again, still no response. My res shows no certificate from points attached, and I confirmed that with Marriotr reservations- wants me to attach certificate after I have 150000 points in my acct. Really happy this is my last travel certificate and that I'm never ordering another one.

Travel Package 7 Night Voucher Cat 5
I currently have a Category 5 voucher from the old travel packages that was converted to the new packages. It is set to expire in August of this year so i'm looking at possibilities for bookings. I know Marriott introduced the off-peak points pricing recently. For my specific property, I noticed i'm getting a PointSaver rate of 35k for Mon-Thursday and 45k for Friday--Sunday. The total point value is 240k for 7 nights (it appears to taking off one night for the fifth free night on the website). Based on this, I don't believe there is anyway to use a Category 5 voucher to book a Category 6 hotel through some method. However, I just want to confirm if there isn't some way to make this work through Marriott.
