This is the second most exciting week in my life!
I can hardly wait for that 38-night bonus, bringing me within about 50 nights of Marriott Bonv°y Lifetime Platinum (LTP) Elite status.
Upon the update in the next month or two, I should have 10 years. So I hope to earn LTP by 2022 (or maybe 2023).

I'm also wetting myself with excitement. Just cannot control it. My Lifetime Platinum year will imminently increment to 9 (from last year) and my nights will increment to 575 (from the bonus). I will need just 9 more nights to reach Platinum again in 2021 (10 years done!) and 25 more nights to reach LTP as we head into a double night promo and I've got at least two multi-night stays planned for end Feb and probably more weekend staycations before the end of April so that's it. Job done. I dont know what I'll do with my life once this milestone has been achieved.

1) Put all our stays in the name of my wonderful wife of almost 29 years, so she can progress from almost-Lifetime Silver Elite to LTP, with only one year of Plat so far. She has had two credit cards (business & personal) since last year, so is currently Gold Elite with 30 nights and 13 enroute from the second Head Start promo.
2) Gamble (speculate) on Marriott reopening qualification for LTT, and strive for 400 more nights and 6 more years of Titanium based on the guess of 1000 nights / 10 years as a potential new requirement.
3) Get a Hilton Aspire AmEx and strive for Hilton Honors Lifetime Diamond (1000 nights / 10 years). I currently have, perhaps, less than 100 nights and am a retired sexagenarian.
Since I do not travel that much (especially compared to many FlyerTalkers), and more than half my Marriott nights have been from credit cards, I am leaning toward # 1, with # 2 as a backup, though I do value the complimentary UA Premier Silver from attaining annual Titanium. I keep # 3 as an "escape" if Marriott Bonv°y benefits continue to erode.

Option 4: Be a free agent. Stay at Marriott when it makes sense, taking advantage of your status. Stay anywhere you want when it doesn't. In the last few years I've strayed more and more as I've become frustrated with Bonvoy and there are some amazing properties out there that are not affiliated with Bonvoy (and sometimes not affiliated with anyone).
I am torn between three options after attaining LTP:

Mine is all leisure travel as I retire this year at 52 so I will stay with Bonvoy hotels where they continue to offer me the benefits I want (lounge/booze, breakfast, late check out) and will probably stay at better hotels on average with fewer overall stays as I'm not fabricating nights to hit requalification. But I will look at other options such as Luxury Escapes offers or the Amex agent offers at other brands where Bonvoy doesn't have something that rewards me suitably. A bright future awaits.

I have been to the Philippines on vacations (two funerals) a total of 8 months since we were married. Sometimes she has gone early or returned late. She has also made the trip by herself about 18 times, half of those from SPN. Most of our trips will likely be together.

Someone on the Insiders FB group just reported waking up to LTP on their app, so it seems that Marriott is beginning to update the lifetime years in batches. Waiting to see that nine turn into a ten...

That post was obviously a troll and should be removed from the group. Marriott didn't update anything yet.

My nine years as a Marriott Bonv°y Platinum Elite have not yet incremented to ten today.
Some two decades of dealing with Marriott IT (information technology) have helped reinforce the virtue of patience. 💚
