Hey all, I'm completely new to LNF and would like to make a booking at the JW Marriott South Beach in Singapore from Jan. 14-17. However, all the 3rd party sites that I've checked (trivago, hotels.com, etc..) are showing rates comparable to or higher than Marriott's rates. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!

So you’re thinking Marriott is always more expensive than other ways of booking, but they’re still offering a best-rate guarantee? What would be the point?

Nothing.

Its just getting harder to find sites that are lower. You have to find more obscure sites, keep checking, apps are sometimes lower, and don’t give up.

IMHO, the one thing you may doing wrong is assuming that every hotel can be gotten on LNF on every date and at every time you check.

In my experience when just looking to get any hotel in a given area on an LNF, it's very rare for every hotel in that area to be available on LNF. Usually it's just a small subset of hotels in a given area that have LNFable rates. (Basically, it's those hotels whose managers decided to put up a lower rate somewhere else. Far from every hotel decides that for every date.)

And that's the other thing. A given hotel may only have LNFable rates on certain dates, nowhere near every day of the year. And also, those LNFable rates may only be there for short windows of time, maybe close in, maybe far out (in terms of booking time).

And all that is on top of the fact that the LNFable rates, when they do exist, may only exist on relatively obscure booking sites, precisely because the hotel doesn't want those rates to be lLNF'd (because then it gets less money).

I was thinking that given all the success stories here it would be easy!

OK, thanks! I'll keep plugging away.

Thanks sdsearch. Indeed I was naively thinking that every hotel had rates that were easily LNFable.

Check AAA rate, or maybe call CS and see if they have access to a refundable rate. With SPG, you were even allowed to submit a BRG with a points booking which is always refundable. No idea if that would work with Marriott.

Have you tried using booking code REG or RAC? That usually generates a flex rate.

Is it just me or has something gone wrong with the payment of the 5000 point LNF award? Until last month they paid out a couple of days after checkout, sometimes before the stay posted, but my last 3 during November have all failed to payout. Anyone else had this?

I’ve read about it. Request compensation, they will pay extra points.

Well, at least it’s not just me! So do I email the LNF team or call the Plat line?

When I do a google, I find that groupon offers much better rates than the Marriott booking site.

Can anyone confirm whether Marriott matches prices from groupon?
