Huge thanks to Horace for this list (which is much simpler to understand than Marriott's T&Cs!)

The hotel was serving breakfast, but upon check-in they told me I would receive points instead. I pointed out that they would owe me $100 as a penalty under the Marriott Terms and Conditions if they didn't offer me a breakfast option. But I may have confused them by saying I would take that $100 value as points instead....we're talking some 14,000 points (some hotels prefer to compensate in points). They seemed to agree, but following the stay I saw that I'd just gotten around 1,000 amenity points. Called the front desk manager and laid it on the line. After some argument, where I pointed out I had incurred significant lunch and dinner charges, they elected to refund $100 to my credit card rather than provide lots of points.
One possible upside of this policy violation was that my paid breakfast by the pool was very peaceful and restorative, especially once Monday rolled around. Almost no one else partook.

staying at the Westin Napa Verasa this weekend and the breakfast offering is a "grab and go" box with a "fruit, pastry and yogurt". I suspect the fruit will be a single banana.
this Category 7 property costs around $600 per night plus a $25 resort fee. This "breakfast" at such a property is an embarrassment... it's a pity the Hyatt is sold out, I would definitely prefer to stay there. And I guess that's the reason the Hyatt is sold out and the Westin still has rooms available even for points...

Is breakfast per room I book or per room I stay in?
I'm booking two rooms. One with two people. One with a single person. Both rooms under my name and I'm ambassador elite. Who is entitled to breakfast and lounge access (assuming breakfast in the restaurant)?
Thanks,
-RM

The Lounge Access benefit only applies to the one (1) guest room in which the Platinum Elite Member (and above) is staying.

A Titanium friend is going to Sheraton Waikiki which has a lounge which is currently closed due to Covid. When I look at the wiki, is it option 2 or 3 that he would be invoking? (Were expecting some push back.) Where would we find this in the Marriott benefit T&Cs since I doubt the hotel will consider FT a valid source of information.

I am continuing to research this for my friend going to the Sheraton Waikiki. I found this in the T&Cs:
In the United States and Canada: When a Participating Property's Lounge is closed, or property does not have a Lounge or approved alternative, the property will offer a daily continental breakfast in the restaurant for the Member plus one (1) guest, or Member can choose 750 Points per night of Stay.
Unless I am misunderstanding, I think my friend may be relegated to crappy continental breakfast since the lounge is closed.
Can someone help me make an argument for otherwise?

The two times this year that I went with the breakfast option I received a standard egg /bacon /potato plate option beyond "continental", but no guesses on what a Hawaiian hotel would offer...

At most Starwood legacy brands, including Sheraton, breakfast in the restaurant for member + 1 is a welcome gift choice. Lounge access at a few Starwood legacy brands is a separate benefit, but there's no alternative if the lounge is closed.
When hotel restaurants were closed by various levels of government during pandemic, those hotels had a legitimate excuse to provide points instead of something they could not provide. But if a hotel sells breakfast, it should honor the elite benefits published in the Marriott Bonvoy terms & conditions.

This was the Tit breakfast being offered by the Sheraton Waikiki in Sept when they removed the buffet breakfast. Pastry, yogurt and fruit plus coffee/tea/juice (plus one day, they had no yogurt)! I understand that what they were offering before they had to close the buffet was pared back but included some hot options.
How would you describe this breakfast?

Currently at Philadelphia Marriott West (in Consohocken, not downtown). At check-in was told that breakfast was not offered on Saturday and Sunday, so points were given instead, which was their way of handling the lounge access benefit for platinum/titanium. Turns out the restaurant is open weekends, but does not offer a buffet. I went back to the front desk and asked about breakfast. The manager, who happened to be there at the time, said that it was only the platinum/titanium benefit that was not available, since the lounge access benefit was being covered by the buffet. As soon as I said that was not in accordance with the T&C, i.e., my choice over points or breakfast not his, he said breakfast would be provided in the restaurant for the two of us.
Evidently, he was not confused about the terms, just that they probably get away with not following them for most people. They did get the welcome benefit correct (I took the points).
My other experiences in the past couple of months were (1) Marriott LAX, where they had opened the M Club for breakfast, for which I had access, (2) the Sheraton LAX, where they offered a welcome benefit of points or breakfast and ignored the lounge access benefit (lounge was closed), but since I arrived at 8 PM and my flight left at 7 AM, I decided that was not worth the fight, and (3) the Mayflower Hotel, where the lounge was closed and they offered fixed price vouchers for the restaurant that were enough to cover breakfast in their vastly overpriced restaurant (really, $6 for an incredibly mediocre cup of coffee??). So, running about 50/50on seeing the T&C being met.

I'm moderately surprised he didn't just tell you "sorry, no breakfast," since Marriott allows the properties to get away with that despite what the T&C say.

At Sheraton, Le Mridien, and Westin, the Guaranteed Lounge Access chart (for Platinum Elite and higher) in the T&Cs clearly states, "No alternative offered when Lounge is closed."
At Sheraton, Le Mridien, and Westin properties, Platinum Elite (and higher) members can choose daily restaurant breakfast for member +1 as a welcome gift (but then they don't get welcome points). If there's lounge and it's open, then Platinum Elite (and higher) members also have access to the lounge.
In the United States, the lounge alternative and guest compensation only apply JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels, Delta Hotels, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels (resorts excluded). At these brands, daily restaurant breakfast for member +1 is NOT a welcome gift choice.
