Courtyard Brussels EU [Master Thread]
http://news.marriott.com/2016/12/cou...opean-quarter/
"Courtyard by Marriott continues to expand across Europe with the opening of Courtyard Brussels EU. Ideally located in the heart of the European Quarter near the vibrant city centre, the hotel offers convenient access to the Grand Place, Magritte Museum, European Commission and Brussels International Airport. Just a short distance to the vibrant city center with direct access to the Schuman train station."
Category 5.
Hotel website:
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...d-brussels-eu/
"The 180 guestrooms and suites are thoughtfully designed with comfort and convenience in mind. Elsewhere in the hotel, guests can sample Scandinavian cuisine in the Bistro GRD – Nordic Kitchen, and enjoy the use of a 24-hour market providing refreshments and travel accessories. Other facilities include a fully-equipped fitness centre, and a business centre with three meeting rooms, including a flexible 72m2 venue. Complimentary high-speed WIFI is available throughout the hotel."

Argghh... another Courtyard which in my books is a useless property for MR Elite members due to the lack of Breakfast as part of Elite benefit.
Is Marriott purposely opening these CY because they know that they can save on the breakfast cost for Elites?

IMO Marriott is opening CYs in Europe to have mid-level properties w/in Europe vs. just full-service.
We won't know until someone stays there what the breakfast situation is like. Since it's Europe odds are it won't be included, but there are some European properties that offer brekkie for Plats.
For those w/ families, this offers a larger size room (superior) that will accommodate 4 people & 2 rollaways/cribs.
Rates at this property are also significantly less than the full-service properties & even the other CY, checking random dates for the next 3 months. I saw rates of 59, 87 & 97 Euros.
Cheers.

Just providing an update since I've completed my trip.
We ended up staying at the Courtyard EU because between the two of us we had 3 cat 1-5 certificates plus a great corporate rate so a 4 night stay cost us $90 including taxes.
As a Platinum we were upgraded a business room which ended up being a huge corner room (302). From looking at the fire route map, it appeared to be the biggest room on the floor and it was definitely more than sufficient. Huge room that was divided up with a King bed on the left, a TV at the end of the bed, and then a couple of couches / another TV / Nespresso machine. There was also a big space in the middle of the room that was just empty. The bathroom was handicap friendly. There was also a fridge that was available for use (see below).
Location is great, about 10-15 minutes to Grand Place, 10-15 minutes to the various major EU buildings (though many EU buildings are much closer but the European Parliament, European Council, and European Commission HQ buildings are all about 10-15 minute walks). Brussels as a whole is relatively small so we had a pretty easy time walking everywhere (though we are young and enjoy walking quite a bit).
There are 3 Carrefour Express within a 5 minute walk which is great for filling the fridge with some local beers / water / soda / yogurt. No free breakfast (as is the norm with CY in Europe) but we were offered a reduced price of 12E/person as Plats (down from 20E) - but we declined (free Nespresso + yogurt from Carrefour was cheaper and what I actually wanted). There are also a number of restaurants nearby though all were closed due to the EU closing / holiday.
Finally it's about a 3-5 minute walk to the Arts-Loi metro station which makes any metro needs easy (we went to the Neuhaus factory outlet one day and it was a piece of cake to get there).
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and it's a fantastic use of the Cat 1-5 certs if looking to use in a major European city without being stuck out at the airport or some other inconvenient location.

Yep! The actual Neuhaus factory is just a bit outside of central Brussels (take Erasmus bound number 5 metro to Erasmus and then walk about .75 miles) and there is a factory store attached. They have 1kg boxes of second choice chocolate (most boxes only have 1 type of chocolate but a few are unlabeled and might contain more). They also have the normal stuff and some discounts on bags of loose chocolate. Fun experience if you are a Neuhaus fan, especially since there are unlimited free samples (every one of the second choice boxes has a free sample and then they open up one box of mostly everything else in the store a day).

Just finished up a stay at this property and thought I'd bump this thread. Essentially, everything from Duke787's report holds true - great location, low rates, very good use of a free night certificate. Since it was the holidays, the neighborhood was desolate, which was absolutely perfect for getting great sleep at night - the Grand Place properties were in the midst of absolute chaos with the winter festival going on and you couldn't have paid me to stay at them.
They gave us the same room type as in the previous report - very large corner unit with a big dining table (agree with previous post on the fantastic utility of the in-room fridge and nearby Carrefours, ensuring a steady supply of snacks and world-class beers). Room was absolutely immaculate and housekeeping, front desk, and restaurant service were great.
One additional note on the location is that if you're up for about a 10 minute walk you can catch a train directly to/from the airport at Schuman station, which is nice since it is cheap and requires no transfers.
Oh, and to hopefully make some folks happy - they gave us breakfast! At check-in, the agent asked if I wanted points or a credit as my welcome benefit. I said the credit, to use towards breakfast, and she responded very matter-of-factly that breakfast was of course complimentary since I am a platinum member (wish this was the case everywhere!). This was on certs/points so definitely not a feature of the rate I booked. Each morning they had a nice selection of cold meats, cheeses, salads, and cereals as well as 4-5 hot items and some extremely tasty baked goods (definitely up to local standards).
Excellent stay; would come back any time.

Anyone have any recent stays at this hotel? I will be there the 2nd week of December. As an Ambassador elite I was hoping for complimentary breakfast, but assuming that is unlikely to happen.

Stayed there for two nights this month, the operations are pretty much back to normal, but like most of BXL the industry is suffering... I booked rooms for 62€/night! The 'Bistro GRD – Nordic Kitchen' is gone and since Sep 6 replaced by 'cinquante et un' (51) which is also the name of the company that owns the property. The breakfast is the same mediocre as before, if not in your room rate, try to go to the Kamilou ( https://www.kamilou.be/fr/restaurant-a-arts-loi/ ) next door in the same building. Its a funky place and serves a full breakfast for 9€.
