Corporate Preferred/Preferred Plus Program [Master Thread]
I looked at the preferredguest web site, and found information for gold and platinum levels, but could not find the section for corporate preferred. Does such information exist?
Does the stay count for 2000 point bonus (5th and 10th stay) reset every year? That is if I had 3 stays this year and 2 stays next year, would I receive the bonus? And is there a bonus for the 15th, 20th, ... stay? |
PG, the Corporate Preferred level is not really a published level in the program so we don't put any information about it on the web site.
Your threshold bonus will re-set each calendar year (January - December). You would have to have five stays in a calendar year to reach the first threshold bonus and another five stays in the same calendar year to reach the second one. There are no threshold bonuses beyond this because your account will upgrade to the Gold elite level after the tenth stay is credited. Then you begin to earn bonus Starpoints on every stay. Sincerely, William R. Sanders Customer Service Coordinator Starwood Preferred Services [email protected] |
William - as usual, thanks for the helpful information.
Depending on one's number of stays and average hotel bill, Corporate Preferred could work out to be better than Gold. Another question - is elite membership on a calendar year or a 12 month basis? Right now I am Corporate Preferred, but also have the opportunity to get Gold status as I joined nwa.com. I was wondering if I would get 8 months of Gold or 12 months of Gold if I redeemed the nwa.com offer. |
PG, if you were upgraded to Gold elite today, your renewal date would re-set to February 29, 2004 from using the promotion code.
That being said, elite memberships run on the calendar year from January through December, so you would have to qualify for Gold elite again beginning January 1, 2003. Hope that helps. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Best regards, William R. Sanders Specialist, E-Communications Department Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide [email protected] |

CorporatePreferred..Hey what is it good for?...Tellme something (singing).
I am a member of the AICPA and recently got a mailing telling me I am now Starwood Corporate Preferred. I also happen to be Gold (through promotion of the nwa.com club)...I am a loyal HH member but I am checking out the Sheraton next month just to see what "the other side" is like http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif From what I understand so far (which is not much), the only real benefit CP gets me is a somewhat discounted rate... And I am identified for being CP by my global preference number xxxxx. So for my stay coming up I show my Gold card and that should take care of things in the most advantageous way? Or do I tell them I am CP (already in my profile)... I guess I am supremely confused on the differences between Gold and CP. Please Lurker shed some light if you can, thanks George |
gpapadop - there are many threads on this which you can find with search. The biggest difference is that Gold gives you 3 points per dollar, while CP gives you 2 points per dollar. But CP will give you 2000 point on the calendar year 5th and 10th stay. So depending on your number of stays, and also on your average hotel bill, Gold may be better than CP or CP may be better than Gold for earning points.
Another difference is the 1500 min. point transfer for airlines for Gold. I believe (but not absolutely sure) that it is 2500 pts for CP. Comments in FT suggest that upgrades are same with either. |
Corporate Preferred or Gold?
I have the option of signing up for the Starwood Preferred Guest program as a Gold Member with a referral:
"Click below and you'll receive complimentary Gold Preferred Guest(R) status through February 2003, a privilege that usually requires 10 stays. Book and stay January 15 through April 30, 2002 and you'll earn 5,000 bonus Starpoints after just five stays. That's enough for a free weekend........" or at the Corporate Preferred level: "As a Corporate Preferred member in the Starwood Preferred GuestSM program, MYOBTravelSM Travelers will receive the following benefits: No black-out dates on award stays so you can go where you want, when you want* 4 p.m. late checkout** 2,000 Starpoint bonus points on your 5th and 10th stay Complimentary upgrades to a Preferred room, when available, at check in Join today to enroll in the Starwood Preferred Guest program or upgrade your existing membership to Corporate Preferred by calling 1-888-625-4988 and be sure to mention enrollment code 'DB'. Join now and you will be on your way to free nights, free flights, and more! For more information and complete program terms and conditions visit www.spg.com..... My question is which is better - Corporate Preferred or Gold? (edited for spelling) [This message has been edited by satish_ny (edited 04-08-2002).] |

Another question that I didn't really see answered in any of the other threads...I have a Starwood Preferred Guest card and a CP card (0 pts on both). I am going to upgrade to gold (by way of being plat. on NWA). Does it matter which account I upgrade on? It seems to me that I would have to pick one to start applying my points to. Thanks!

Not that the SPG Police are coming to get you or anything, but the database regularly catches these things and combines duplicate accounts of it's own accord. If that happens, you won't have a choice over which account is merged and which one remains active. Best regards, William R. Well, I had the regular account, and then I received the corporate card in the mail one day. If I remember correctly, it was sent by my firm. "As an employee of...we invite...(or words to that effect)" It appears as though the CP has an expiration date. So say I don't requalify for gold (and can't upgrade it through NWA), is my CP account still good next year?

Corporate Preferred vs. Gold
Does anyone know the difference between Corporate Preferred and Gold status? As far as I can tell, they both allow for upgrades and such but does anyone have any experience with one being preferrable to the other? Thanks!

"Corporate Preferred" and "Preferred Plus" programs
I am doubtful regarding my ability to renew my elite status for 2003.
Apparently, I am eligible for free "Starwood Corporate Preferred" status through a professional organization. Alternatively, by purchasing travel five times through Travelocity, I can get "Starwood Preferred Plus" status. Both of these programs allow for complimentary room upgrades, which is the reason I am interested. No elite bonus miles, however. Does anyone have any real-world experience with these programs, particularly in the room upgrade category? Would the desk clerks be clueless if I presented a card showing me as "Corporate Preferred" or "Preferred Plus"? |

Preferred Plus has no elite bonuses; however, the credit card does for the first year of membership. The benefits of Corporate Preferred membership in Starwood Preferred Guest are as follows: - Two Starpoints per U. S. Dollar or equivalent spent on eligible charges. - Ability to earn Starpoints on restaurant charges when not staying at a participating property. (US$10.00 Minimum) - Personal profile information, including: floor, bedding, pillow, smoking preferences, and newspaper preferences. - Choice of National or Financial weekday newspaper. - Pre-blocked and pre-keyed room on day of arrival. - Personalized, fast and efficient check-in. - Special toll-free number for Starwood Preferred Guest related inquiries. - Unlimited ability to transfer Starpoints between two accounts in the same household. - Corporate Preferred membership credentials. - Guaranteed late check-out of up to 4:00 p.m., based upon availability at resort properties and hotels that are considered to be conference destinations in peak season. - Upgrade to a Preferred Room, subject to availability at time of check-in. - Threshold bonus of 2,000 Starpoints after the 5th and 10th stays. I recently(Oct) signup for a Starwood AE card with complimentary membership in Preferred Plus as a benefit. Does this status showup on SPG account info? Do you have to notify SPG?
|
William,
the credit card is only available for US residents though. Is there anything for us in the North? (Canada) [This message has been edited by Remko (edited 11-21-2002).] |

old Corp Preferred SPG card had an expiration date, just got a new one without??
something i'm really confused by is that my old Corporate Preferred SPG card had an expiration date set to the end of this month.
then last week, i got a new Corporate Preferred SPG card in the mail. the new card came in a packet that said "Welcome to Corporate Preferred". the strange thing is, i'm obviously already a Corp SPG member, and the new card has the exact same old account number on it. but, no more expiration date on the card. and the GP SET number is no longer printed on the card. what does this mean? why did the old cards have expiration dates, but the new one does not? same question about the GP num? and why did i get a "Welcome to..." packet if i'm already a member? this whole thing doesn't make sense. [This message has been edited by dberry (edited 02-18-2003).] |
There will no longer be an expiration date printed on Corporate Preferred membership cards. The reason is that as long as you remain employed with the company associated with this membership, you will be renewed automatically anyway. If you are no longer employed by them, the account will be downgraded to the next lowest applicable level. This is when you can probably expect to see an expiration date again. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Also, all the SET number did was confuse a lot of Corporate Preferred members, so it will also not be printed on their membership cards any longer. Sincerely, William R. What if you went from Gold to "Not Preferred http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif" but you are a current (and soon renewing) Amex card holder? Is the Preferred Plus status only for the initial signup or could someone get it in this case? I believe I have a corporate SET # as well that I don't use but could if that would help. I think Preferred Plus comes with the late checkout doesn't it?

William: I noticed today that Starwood now has an AARP code as well we can sign up for. I did just that over the phone. Does that clash with the Preferred Plus or complement it or what? Just confusing because on the website it says call and use code AARP to upgrade your account.

Preferred Plus vs. Gold
I have been reading about the unpublished "Preferred Plus" SPG level on FT and on spg.com, and I was wondering how it differs from Gold SPG? I am currently a Gold SPG member, but I also have AAA (which would entitle me to Preferred Plus status) and my current benefits seem to mirror that of Preferred Plus. Am I missing something, or are the two levels essentially similar?
|
Similar; however the 50% bonus you recieve on hotel stays as a Gold member is probably the largest difference.
