Yeah I'm a Preferred Business Guest with a gold background on spg.com too.

What does a Preferred Business Guest get?

Corporate Preferred and 50%-off award

Not going to debate the usefulness of the 50% award, but was wondering how you get one if you are a corp preferred guest?

On my card it says "50%-off award after 2nd stay" in the benefits section on the back.... I have stayed way more than 2 times and have yet to get anything from SPG - any ideas?

Might need to use this for a trip to Europe early next year where it seems that 50% off awards are useful.

Thanks,

Vader

IIRC, in your membership materials, you are given a URL to enroll your account into 50C. If you don't enroll your account, then we don't send you a 50% off coupon, as it is optional and dependant upon your registration.

Thanks William for the quick reply. Must have missed that and I tend not to keep all the marketing fluff that is sent in membership kits (ironic that I am in marketing myself)....

Is there any way for you to get me this URL now so I can enroll? Maybe a PM? Or can I do it by calling the customer contact center?

Thanks for your help.

Wow, I have been a corporate preferred member for years and never knew about this enrollment requirement. Can it be done by calling customer service?
Thanks!

You can call the Customer Contact Center and ask for 50C to be added to your account or just use this URL to enroll:

http://www.starwoodhotels.com/prefer...ml?promoID=50C

Good luck!

Lurker,

I have enrolled myslef, stayed twice, have SPG50C on my account. Should I expect paper certificate or it's 100% electronic nowadays?

Totally electronic. You have to call the Customer Contact Center when you are ready to book/redeem it. Ask for redemption code C50, like the Terms and Conditions state.

Thanks William - I used the link and it turns out that I am already registered - must have blanked it out of my memory

So there is no way that we can see if I have it already online in my account anywhere? Also, is there any way to see the Rack Rate at SPG hotels online so I can get an idea of whether it is worth it to try to use it befoire I bother the CCC staff.

Thanks again.

No to either question. You have to call the Customer Contact Center to redeem the award and to check for the SPG50 rate plan.

Which is better? Preferred Business or Corporate Preferred

Folks,
I'm at Corporate Preferred, I assume from entering the Corporate/SET number to my account. I was Preferred Business previously from spg-amex.

I understand the Preferred Plus is what one receives from spg-amex. But is the Corporate Preferred at the same, higher, or lower level (should I remove the SET number and go back to Preferred Business)?

thank you all

They're the same (as far as status is concerned) and are the same as Preferred Plus (ie, what you get with Starwood Amex for free).

Corporate Preferred...level???

Looked around for a bit with no luck. Where does the Corporate Preferred level land on the Preferred scale?

Is the less than gold? Equal? Better?

I was a corporate preferred for a while as well but then qualified for Gold. In my experience, Corporate Preferred is the bottom level. I didn't notice any difference between Preferred and Corporate Preferred. It really just seems to be something to make the cards look special :-)
