Report from my recent 2 night stay:
Arrived wee-hours of the morning thanks to delayed flight. No issues at check-in, and certainly no lines. Shown a list of Gold amenities, but the agent suggested using it for free wifi, which I did. Can't remember the other choices. Also received two welcome drink chits for the club, and two passes for (unlimited?) tea / coffee in the restaurant all day. (didn't use those)
Booked two rooms at 3K / night (weekend rate). Upgraded to a Jr. Suite with connecting room, which was perfect. Rooms were on Club floor with club access. Fruit plate in the room -- maybe a second amenity? Not sure.
Offered buffet breakfast in the restaurant. It was packed both mornings. So busy I couldn't find a seat and took my plate back to my room, which was fine, since the kids were sleeping late. Buffet is quite extensive, but frankly not that great. Everyone will find something they will theoretically like, but whether it is good is another matter! For example, the eggs were mostly soup. The deep fried pork was very dry. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciated the variety, but last month I was in Stockholm and had breakfast at the Radisson Waterfront buffet which is probably one of the best hotel breakfast buffets in the world (caviar!) This ain't that.
The club sets up for evening apps around 3pm or so. (officially starts at 4). They had 3 hot items each day, one rotated. Then they have some cheese, cold meats, desserts, etc. Again, nothing fancy, but everything was adequate. The oddity is that they charge for most drinks, including soft drinks! They have two juices out (including prickly pear -- tuna -- so good) and a bottle of wine, but anything else required either the welcome drink chit or, presumably, billing it to your room. It just surprised me to have to pay or use a chit to get a Coke!
The hotel is next to a lively well-kept mall with a nice food court. But otherwise, it is an 'interesting' area. A large park of statues is across the street, and the palace of justice is beyond that. But then there is a lot of who-knows-what beyond that. We were only there on the weekend, so it's hard to say what would have been open -- I'm guessing not much -- and the view of the these buildings rooftops from our room wasn't the most picturesque.
But the area is reasonably walkable. We walked to the historic area downtown. Plenty of people out and about. No issues. Didn't feel unsafe at all. We were not out at night, but I would have no worries about going over to the mall.
The Sheraton has a shuttle (contracted) to Miraflores. Runs afternoon/evening leaving every other hour. Shuttle seats about 9. If there are a lot of folks who want to go, this could be an issue. It takes about 25-30 mins to get to Larcomar, a shopping mall built into a cliff at Miraflores. The driver didn't run the AC in the shuttle, so it got a little warm.
There is a pool and spa at the hotel. We used the pool. It was COLD.
The Jr. Suite is nice. Living room with table / chairs and couch (not pull out). King size bed in bedroom, with heavy sliding door to separate. Bathroom contains a shower and jetted-tub.
I was originally offered a 4pm check out. On the day of departure, I asked for a late check out -- I asked for 7pm and that was granted without hesitation. Hotel seemed deserted when we left. Seemed odd that it was very busy on the weekend, and then empty coming into the week, particularly for what I assume is not so much a leisure property.
We used Peruvian Shuttle for our airport transfers. I highly recommend them. Price is only somewhat more than a taxi, and cheaper than the hotel. They are prompt, drive nice cars, and never tried to sell us anything. Pay in USD or soles, no surcharge. Took maybe 20-30 mins to the airport.
Overall, the Sheraton met and mostly exceeded my expectations. I would definitely go back. It is a great value on an award stay. It was probably the best treatment I've ever received as an SPG Gold.

I was pretty happy with the buffet last month. I agree about the eggs, but I figured that was just the way people like them in Peru. I liked the selection, and thought the service was great given how busy they were.

Sounds like everyone generally has great things to say about this hotel! Going to use it for a 19 hour layover in Lima next February! Unfortunately, it's not a weekend so it's 4k/night instead of 3k, but that's still uber cheap with a cash rate of $169+tax on my date.
Stoked about the free shuttle to Miraflores. Will make it easier to go surfing. PS - the surf lessons on the beach for $20 are well worth it. One of the easiest/best beaches in the world to learn on with those constant rolling waves that don't break until shore!

The Westin has no club lounge that I'm aware of us. The Sheraton's is a very solid club lounge -- on par with other Latin America Sheraton Club Lounges. In my experience, always a few notches above domestic US lounges.

In my opinion, there can be no comparison between the Sheraton and the Westin. The Westin is brand new, stylish, and spacious. The Sheraton is old, worn out, and service is not outstanding.

After reading threads and doing some research, we opted to stay at the Sheraton Lima because of its location next to the historical city center. Could walk to Plaza de San Martin, Plaza de Amaras (aka Plaza de Mayor), ChinaTown, and Circuito Mgico del Agua in the Parque de la Reserva (a 20 minute walk or a short & inexpensive taxi ride from the Sheraton Lima - I walked it). Free hotel shuttle to/from Larcomar shopping mall worked out well and we were able to easily walk from the Larcomar shopping mall to Parque de Kennedy, where the cats are, next to the Miraflores Oval. We took a microbus back to the Larcomar shopping mall just for the fun of it (1 solis per person). Sheraton is older and worn, but was adequate and cost much less than the Westin. Club lounge was insufficient for a light meal in the evening - no happy hour, just light food from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Also had to pay for even sodas. Evening food in Club Lounge could be improved. Lots of places to eat next door in the Plaza Real, a modern mall with restaurants and a food court. Breakfast looked better however we ate at the breakfast buffet each morning - loved the fried pork and peppery chicken noodle soup! Service was good overall in the hotel. Only complaint was the elevator noise. We were upgraded to a suite, room 1401, immediately next to the elevators though separated by a hallway, and the elevators were LOUD! We moved to a suite in the middle of the building and though much quieter, wanted to have the view facing Paseo de Republica. So we moved again to a suite next to the service elevators. Though nosier than a suite in the middle of the building, was quiet enough for us. Rooms would be even quieter if the windows sealed better.
Took Taxi Green from airport to hotel for 50 solis at 1 am. Best to go to desk and see posted rates before paying. Originally the driver who found us in the main hall asked for USD 25. We then walked over to the Taxi Green desk near the exit from baggage claim where the Taxi Green rates were posted, and the posted rate was only 50 Solis. We payed the Taxi Green person at the desk and got a receipt just to be safe, and then made sure that no one else besides the driver got involved in loading our suit cases into the cab. For our return trip to the airport around 9:00 pm on a Sunday night, tried to use Taxi Green again but when called to reserve a cab, it said that no cabs were in the area at that time. So the Sheraton front desk staff person asked if he could call the taxi service the hotel uses, and we had a great ride to the airport for 50 solis (Taxi Green would have wanted 60 solis for the return trip to the airport). We had a nice five day trip to Lima, enjoyed walking around the historical city center and over to Chinatown, Miraflores, and seeing the Circuito Mgico del Agua (only 4 Solis per person).

Here for a layover before cusco. 3rd time staying at this property. Upgraded to Jr. Suite (1.5 baths) which pretty much looks like a 1 bedroom. Bath products this time is the typical sheraton products but i remember 2 years ago it was the branded kind and not sheraton products.
Cant walk out to the balconies now from the room.
Got a welcome letter signed by the GM with chocolates, fruit basket, cheese/cracker platter, and some late night appetizers which had smoked salmon and a tiny, tiny serving of caviar.
Club lounge on 18th floor served adequate brekky. Had tamale, chicken, beef, eggs, etc.
Property participates in MGC.
Will try out Westin Lima this weekend. Been told by a manager there through email that ive been upgraded to executive suite so pretty cool.
Ah yes, theres a legit money changer in lobby which opens from 800 to 2200

Bad water?
So I just got done with a two night stay at the Sheraton Lima. When I checked in I asked if I it was okay to drink the tab water there - the person at the desk said yes.
So the first night I had one glass of tap water after I'd finished the free bottled water. That was three days ago and I've never had such bad diarrhea before in my life. I'm in Cusco now - suppose to hike to Machu Pichhu in the morning (which is the purpose of the trip). It's looking like that won't be a possibility.... Anyone else ever had this problem? Did they flat out lie to me or could this be from something else? I'm use to going to Mexico properties where the water at the hotel is totally fine but the local water is bad. Figured the same concept applied...
