New FS MR coming to downtown Ithaca in June 2016. This is surprising news - that such a small town would warrant a FS. But I know area hotels get slammed with Cornell events (graduation) and in the Fall. Marriott seems to be expanding their footprint in upstate NY, which is nice. This is in addition to the new FS coming to Buffalo HarborCenter (which I saw under construction this weekend and find hard to believe will be ready to be occupied by August, the posted opening date), and the Ren coming to Albany. Maybe new FS hotels coming to Syracuse and Rochester next???

- The current Waterfront Place Hotel at Morgantown, WV will renovate and rebrand early next year. It is set to become the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place

Saw this in a news article; a JW to be built in downtown Nashville...

"Turnberry Associates has paid nearly $28.4 million for land downtown where its plans include a 34-story, 532-room JW Marriott Nashville hotel at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Demonbreun Street, according to property records."

Some additional information in an article today:

"35-story, 532-room JW Marriott Nashville hotel on the property at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Demonbreun Street.

Demolition should begin in early fall on the former United Methodist Publishing House headquarters building on the site across from the Music City Center. Completion is expected in late 2017 on the hotel, which will include 50,000 square feet of meeting space, two restaurants and a cafe in the lobby."

Looks like Montreal is getting a Renaissance downtown near McGill. Slated to open January, 2016 according to the signs out front.

There will be two new Marriotts at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. The historic Cavalier (which is currently under massive renovation) will be part of the Autograph Collection and open in 2016. Across the street and opening in 2017, will be a new FS Marriott

There may or may not be a Marriott in Cape Cod area. Cape Cod commission sub-committee had approved a FS Marriott being built in Falmouth, but locals & selectman are rallying against it, saying it will destroy the charm. Goes to a vote soon.

A friend visited Ocean City, MD this weekend and apparently there's a new RI being build with a sign that says "Spring 2016." Doesn't appear on the website site. I'm sure it will be cat 8/9

I drove past the upcoming FFI in Waterbury/Stowe VT this weekend. There's no way it's opening next month. The construction isn't even finished.

Expected to open by February 2018, the 150-room Johannesburg Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch and 200-unit Marriott Executive Apartments Johannesburg Melrose Arch will be located in the Melrose Arch precinct in Johannesburg. The two properties represent the company’s signature brand, Marriott Hotels, as well as its upscale serviced apartments brand, Marriott Executive Apartments, and will be the first Marriott-branded properties under development in South Africa.

Marriott became the largest hotel operator in Africa following its acquisition of South Africa’s leading hotels group, Protea Hotels, in 2014. They are indeed sharing the same building. They will have a shared entry and joint lobby with each hotel occupying a separate lobe of the building. I can see the construction from my office.

"A Residence Inn is planned for the back of Heritage Plaza on the south end of the island.

Almost 200 new hotel rooms may soon be added to Hilton Head Island.

A proposed project would add a 99-room, four-story Hilton Home2 Suites and a 96-room, four-story Marriott SpringHill Suites to the former Motel 6 site at 1 Marina Side Drive, which is mid-island.

He added SpringHill Suites will likely be built about three months later (end of March 2016)."
