the hotel, affiliated with design hotels as a resort since aug '17, became bonvoy participating immediately upon press release on apr 22nd. the benefits are on your usual design-hotel level so....

65 units with 6 room types and 6 suite types! 4pm check in and noon check out. 1 restaurant, pool, and spa (outside operator). only 3/2 room/suite types have views.

all rates are supposed to come with breakfasts. welcome amenity in the form of points. starting from around 200 usd.

Another new option for Paris will be available starting July. Clubtrotteur Paris will open as a Tribute Portfolio property. This hotel used to be the Mercure Paris Gare du Nord Lafayette in its previous life and was closed now for a year.

Per the FD Agent of the Montcalm East, the Montcalm Royal London House will join Autograph sometime this year. This is after the Montcalm Mayfair joined last summer. This would leave the Montcalm Brewery as the only Montcalm Hotel not linked to a Marriott brand. Montcalm also operates Inhabit Hotels, which are a member of Design Hotels.

The SAS Hotel in Hafar Al Batin, northeast Saudi Arabia [near the border with Kuwait] will convert to Four Points by Sheraton Hafar Al Batin; the property website is already online, and they're ostensibly opening June 30th despite no reservations being taken yet.

Does anyone know when the JW Marriot Shenzhen Huafa will be opening? It was supposed to open end of 2025, but obviously delayed.. Doesn't seem to have that much info online about opening date in 2026 either...

I was also told that an announcement of Australia's first EDITION is imminent.

Seegut am Tegernsee, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa has been announced for Germany's Lake Tegernsee, and will open in 2029 with 119 rooms, suites, apartments and villas, as well as "a 3,500 square meter spa with 19 treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a fitness club, kids club and Yoga pavilion... multiple dining concepts, including a traditional Bavarian Wirtshaus and a distinctive Kunstscheune designed to host curated art exhibitions and cultural events."

Marriott is upbranding two existing properties in its Lima portfolio in 2028: The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center will become JW Marriott Hotel Lima, while the existing JW Marriott Hotel Lima will become The Ritz-Carlton, Lima.

Having stayed at JW Lima multiple times, not looking forward to this change. Ritz-Carlton is such a big downgrade in elite benefits.

But, usually a much nicer F&B exoerice at the Club Level Ritz than at the Club Level JW.

The EDITION Hotels website updated its coming soon page to add the following hotels:

• The Athens EDITION
• The Chicago EDITION
• The Mexico City EDITION

The others have all been there for a while; curious to learn more about these newest additions, particularly Athens.
