144-room Moxy Hotel to be built on two adjacent parcels, at 1121 W. Lake St. and 3005 Emerson Ave., in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis. The 144-room, nine-story hotel would rise just two blocks east from Calhoun Square.

Marriott to open 4-5 more hotels in Croatia by 2020.

After the Kupari tourist complex, where it will operate its hotels in cooperation with the Russian Avenue Group as an investor, Marriott International will by 2020 open another 4-5 hotels in Croatia under various Marriott brands in different destinations, including Zagreb, reports Poslovni.hr on November 17, 2015.

The goal of Marriott is to open at least one hotel in every capital city in the region, and in Croatia there is additional potential for several city and resort hotels along the coast", said Čačić who has been a Marriott representative for the last several years and has already talked with the owners of hotels in Istria, Rijeka, Opatija, Split, Zagreb and Dubrovnik."

build a 250-room Mission Bay hotel at Third and Channel streets (San Francisco) and a groundbreaking is now set for the second quarter of 2016, according to the San Francisco Business Times. Marriott is now set to operate the hotel. Most interestingly for residents of Mission Bay, a neighborhood rather starved of things to do, the ground floor will be a 700-square-foot "community living room" where people can come to drink coffee and enjoy art.

On the rooftop of the hotel will be a glass-enclosed bar and cafe, also open to the public. Architect Mark Hornberger is working with interior design firm Aubrey Maxwell to put local public art throughout the building, and the developer is looking to put a restaurant on the ground floor. About 10,000 square feet of meeting space is also planned.

This is a great location for any San Francisco Giants fans. It'll be the closest hotel to AT&T Park and also really easy walking distance to the Caltrain station at 4th Street and King. I look forward to staying here.

El Cajon, California: EL CAJON — Construction of a Marriott Courtyard Hotel in El Cajon is set to begin before the end of the year. Developers for Marriott this month completed the purchase of the properties at the northeast corner of Magnolia and Rea avenues from the city and will get ready for an official groundbreaking ceremony in January. The four-star hotel is expected to open sometime late in 2016. The four-story, 88,000-square foot Courtyard will feature 120 rooms, a swimming pool, grassy courtyard, outdoor dining areas, exercise room, a business center, two meeting rooms and two commercial lease spaces on the ground floor."

Marriott is set to take over one of Philadelphia's hotels, which will undergo a rebranding this year. The 150-room Omni Hotel at Independence Park on 4th and Chestnut streets, located a short walk from the Liberty Bell and the National Constitution Center, is set to become a Marriott product when it transitions into "The Franklin Hotel at Independence Park" (Renaissance). The European-style Old City hotel is set to begin the transition on Nov. 24, five days later than it previously announced on its website.

AKRON, Ohio -- Originally scheduled to open today, Akron's new 147-room Courtyard Marriott hotel will open in mid-December, the Beacon Journal reports.

It will be the first new hotel downtown in three decades. The hotel will also include a bar, Northside Speakeasy, owned and operate by the developer Paul Testa and Cleveland restaurateur Dante Boccuzzi.

For those who don't know (and yet still care), El Cajon is east of San Diego along the I-8, nowhere near the similarly-named Cajon Pass (along the I-15 north of San Bernardino, south of Hesperia/Victorville).

I almost put San Diego in parentheses when I was posting, but then I thought maybe people know where it's located. The article I read the major & council members were quite excited, as there are a lot of motels in the area but this is the first hotel. There was also mention that Hampton Inn might go in the area as well.

Was driving in Buckhead (Atlanta) on Wednesday and saw the AC Hotel on the NE corner of Phipps Plaza, by Nordstrom's, is mid-construction. It will likely meet its April 2016 scheduled opening. The superstructure seems to be completed but the façade appears not yet started.
