Scrub Island Marriott:
I'm hoping to find out the answers to a few questions:
At the Scrub Island Marriott, is there enough of an actual beach to walk on, and do they have lounge chairs, etc on the beach?
Is there anyway to order drinks from the beach?
Would swimming in the ocean off of the beach be a good experience (not diving or snorkeling, just enjoying the water)?
We are looking to dine more casually; would you say the restaurant options offer for this, and what would you say about food prices?
THANK YOU for ANY info you can offer to me. My husband and I are looking to travel in March for our 25th anniversary.
P.S. We are trying to decide between this resort and the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino

The marina beach has a few lounge chairs and a bar iswithin walking distance.
There really isn't any swimming from the beach like an east coast beach in the US. If you are lookig for a place that has long stretches of beaches where you can wade into the water and float in the ocean then this is not the resort for you. There are place in teh BVI that have this but not Scrub Island.
There is a casual restaurant on site and Marina Cay which is casual is only a free ferry ride away as is Trellis Bay.

Thanks for the updates ncgator. I just found out about this place thanks to United's email. It looks excellent but wife is the kind of person who likes long stretches of beach and just chill in the water. This doesn't seem like that kind of resort.

Not a Marriott but a great resort in BVI with a nice beach and a fun place to go, good restaurants, look at Bitter End on Virgin Gorda

Thanks for the updates on Scrub Island as we are trying to decide between there and Guancaste, Costa Rica next winter. Any suggestions? We have been to the other full service Marriott's in CR and loved them both.

Arrived at Scrub Island! Questions anyone?
This Island is great and everything NCGator said is true. We did get upgraded (7 days on points) to a one bedroom suite ahead of time (It showed my room type on my Marriott app). I am willing to answer any questions but I don't think it will be too different as the last trip report was pretty recent.
My view will be a little different because my wife is from Tortola so we have family here and she, knew the woman checking us in and the boat captain bringing us over.
We may not spend ... much time on the island. Even yesterday, we spent lots of time on St. Thomas with family and friends before taking the boat over to Tortola to spend more time with family and then coming over to Scrub Island late 7:45 boat.

Rondelltg... whatever you're able to share from the local aspect (places to eat, things to do, etc.) would be appreciated as i think most of us looking into the place wouldn't have that knowledge.

I just checked my reservation - we booked back in January at cat 8.
I think they offer a points saver rate during hurricane season, maybe you are thinking about that?

Marriott national rep said this property is not exempt from the free upgrade for Gold members (if available at check-in). But, I've read reports from those with status not receiving an upgrade upon check-in even though the person was able to confirm there were available rooms in the next category up from standard. Can anyone confirm if this hotel is NOT upgrading Gold or higher members upon check-in regardless of availablity?
Also, any comments about how the snorkeling is around the island or nearby (within kayak distance)? I've been to the Indians, Norman caves, The Baths, St. John many times, but curious about how the snorkeling is near Scrub. Any worthwhile spots or will I be disappointed? I don't go to the Caribbean expecting French Polynesia type coral life at snorkel depth, but still enjoy it. We won't be diving.

As for the snorkeling - there is an excellent reef very close the the resort (I believe you can swim it from the shore). It is called Diamond Reef - some guy lost a diamond ring there a long time ago, it has never been found. Great fish, coral, etc.
