Bookable as a Category 5 now for next year. The new Sheraton Kuta is Category 4.

Is this a nice location for a family? Looking for a 1 night stay closer to the airport after Sanur/Ubud. I am looking into this property or the Intercontinental or the new Sheraton Kuta.

Dear Yoonny,

Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort is located at the heart of Kuta, right at the center of everything. Directly connected to beachwalk the latest shopping mall opening in Bali, your family will love beachwalk as they have Bali's first digital cineplex and also Miniapolis a whole floor dedicated to children with mini water park, gaming center and also cheeky monkey children learning center. Distance is less than 5km from the airport.

Le Meridien Bali Jimbaran will feature a signature 1,300 square meters saltwater Lagoon, all rooms or suites on level 1 are directly connected to the Lagoon pool. The resort will also have a dedicated Penguins Kids Club for the children, with separate outdoor kids pool. Distance is less than 8km from the airport.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I have stayed in a villa at Jimbaran Bay (Four Seasons) so I am familiar with the area and walked by the Le Meridien as it was in its early stages of construction last year. The beach aroudn the hotel is actually quite good for kids (we had a 1 and 2 yr old), so that is nice. I am a bit challenged to understand the location of the Le Merdien though, it isn't a joke to say that it's across from some pretty stinky places. That is the one draw back that would keep me from going there.

Thanks for the information. Le Meridien sounds better if you just want to stay on property and Sheraton if you want to walk around in town/mall. I think I will just book both for now and decide later after we get some additional pictures and reviews.

I booked the hotel for May next year. Is the hotel not configured for Suite night awards? It shows not available online at the moment.

And it seems like the hotel has delayed its opening. What if it is further delayed? what would happen to the reservation? Will we be treated as 'walked'? Thanks

I would follow the date released officially on the hotel's website. Sorry for the confusion.

I was planning to visit Bali after Christmas but could not make it. Had a reservation with the hotel, they sent me some info regarding the "soft landing" period. Here is what they wrote:

[snip]
We open the resort earlier than planned as we couldn’t wait to share it with everyone. We believe this will be a great opportunity to start our voyage early and allow our guests to get a sneak peak and an opportunity to experience the resort prior to our official opening on January 31st 2013.

With this I would like to share with you that the resort continues to be enhanced and finishing touches in some areas of the resort in anticipation of the our official opening. Whilst this finishing won’t affect your experience we will be operating with some limited facilities.

The Resort will offer some great moments of discovery, our signature restaurant – Bamboo Chic, WALA Gelato Parlour, Swim-up Pool Bar, Penguins Kids Club, Fitness Centre and Latitude 8 Bar located in the lobby will be available for your enjoyment. While Serenity our relaxation and spa treatment space, as well as Smoqee Lounge & Sky Bar will not be operational as the final touches are made. Some minor work to enhance the resort will take place, however we have taken necessary precaution to minimize any disturbance.

Looking forward in welcoming you to Le Méridien Bali Jimbaran and be a part of our journey to the ‘New Elevated Experience of Jimbaran’. However, should you wish to make any changes to your reservation, this can be done without occurring any penalty during the period of December 22nd 2012 to January 30th 2013.

If anyone stays at this property, PLEASE post a trip report. We're currently booked at the St Regis for a stay from Feb 2nd to 7th. Given how cheap the LeM currently is ($170!!), it'd be a steal if the property is worthwhile and gives good plat recognition & suite upgrades. We're getting a bit reluctant to do the St Regis either way since we keep reading that Nua Dusa is not the right place to stay in Bali. So we may just switch to a private villa if the LeM is not a good option.

I am not seeing suites just pool access as the highest category for this mth anyway.

There are more photos of this property on Trip Advisor than there are on the hotel's website. A bit shoddy, that.
