Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Had a one night stay (this past Thursday) for a business meeting at the Cosmopolitan on Friday.

As a Titanium, was upgraded from a standard room to a one bedroom City Suite (which took up the entire west end of the Chelsea Tower). Here's the floor plan for the two bedroom City Suite: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com...oom-city-suite --- just subtract out the second bedroom with two queen beds (if that door was unlocked, I never tried it).

Was also offered a late checkout, but didn't need it because my business meeting started with breakfast at 7:00 am and continued throughout the day.

Western views were mostly the Aria complex (nothing too exciting) although the living room's north-end windows overlooked the Bellagio fountains.

A great room --- too bad it was a one-night stay for business.

Autograph Lounge check-in took a bit of time (they were understaffed) but was much better than general check-in (which had a considerable line). We had a pre-meeting hospitality event in a room overlooking the Bellagio fountains. Food and beverage service by the hotel was outstanding for the meeting. I was very impressed.

Edited to add: Post stay, I had to email the hotel to obtain a copy of the folio for expense reimbursement purposes --- and then had to submit a manual stay request because the stay didn't post in my Bonvoy account. Now the customer service team has to reach out to the hotel to verify the stay because their "meeting reservation" system (which I had to use to reserve the room) doesn't interface with the general reservation system that Marriott can see on missing stay requests. So a manual request has been sent from customer service to the hotel which will take time for them to process. When I checked in, I made sure that the Bonvoy number was in the system and indicated that I wanted Bonvoy points and not Identity points. It will be interesting to see what happens next. I'm on the board of the group that hosted a meeting --- and I'm reasonably sure that we didn't exclude Bonvoy credit for hotel rooms when we booked the meeting.

The VIP lounge is fantastic. Been going there on almost a monthly basis since the hotel opened. Get the players card and gamble for this perk If you get to Cosmo Platinum status, the airport pick up and drop off is really nice!

Is anyone having problems with their stay credit getting posted? I had 2 back to back stays (2 night each) and none of them have posted. The first stay ended 6 days ago and the 2nd one 4 days ago.

No they do not. Bonvoy Platinum gets access to the Autograph Lounge for checkin — not the VIP lounge.

VIP lounge is reserved for Casino guests, and ONLY when your host makes the reservation for you. Identity Platinum does not even get to use it without host involvement.

They are vastly different experiences. The VIP area has free cocktails, breakfast pastries, an espresso machine, etc. Autograph lounge gets free Starbucks coffee, tea and water.

Save your money. The FDC isn’t the one who releases an upgrade, it’s the room coordinator on the phone — who isn’t getting your sandwich, at least not directly. Just pay for an upgrade at check-in, it’s usually not expensive to go up a tier or two if they have the rooms available.

Cosmo’s comp upgrades, no matter what program or tier you are rarely exceed the Terrace 1-br. I’ve spent 125 nights there over 10 years and can count on one hand how many times I got an upgrade to a Terrace Suite or Wraparound (and those were mid-week, one night stays). If you want a premium room you’re going to have to pay for it.

I'm not past the 10 day window yet (checked out on the 10th), but given the fact that I had to request my folio to be sent to me for expense reporting purposes I'm fully expecting that the stay will not post and I'll have to manually request it.

Does anyone have any advice on trying to get into a wraparound suite, partially using points? Willing to pay for the upgrade to ensure it (am marriott plat, but have read that comp upgrades aren't super generous). Booking through marriott gives the option of points +100USD to book a Terrace Suite, but no pre set option to pre book the wraparound when using points. Would I be better off booking the +100 option, and trying to further upgrade at check in? Anyone have any experience with what the cost to upgrade at check in is? Is it handled as flat rate upgrade fees, or is it by "levels up"? id hate to book the points+100 rate, and find out later i could have booked the standard points redemption, and paid the same $xxx upgrade fee when i check in. If i want to try to arrange the upgrade PRIOR to check in, am I better off contacting cosmo directly, or going through Marriott channels?

Not sure how helpful this will be to you, but I have an upcoming stay where I booked a Terrace Studio. I received an email about a week ahead of my stay giving me options to pay for an upgrade:
  • $30 extra per night for a Fountain View
  • $60 extra per night for a Terrace Studio Premium View
  • $60 extra per night for a Terrace Angle
  • $72 extra per night for an Executive Suite
  • $79 extra per night for a Terrace One Bedroom Premium View
  • $100 extra per night for a Wraparound Terrace Suite
  • $125 extra per night for a Terrace Suite
I don't quite understand the pricing, as it appears the Wraparound Terrace is superior to the regular Terrace but cheaper? I also did not realize how many different types of rooms the Cosmo has.

Does this property have a different advance booking calender compared with rest of Marriott?

Can't see past end of April 2020. But other properties are available 2 weeks past April.

Yes Cosmo has a shorter booking window. Sometimes by 2 or 3 months but varies.

Thank you for posring. What approximate dollar amount was your base rate? Or did you book a free stay?

I would book the cheapest paid or points rate. Then on day of check in you will usually get a free Platinum upgrade of some kind. Then when you get there ask the cost of paying for a higher upgrade. To answer your question usually the higher room category you start with the cheaper the upgrade cost. I think paying that $100 up front would end up being wasted so use the cash at check in for the upgrade.

It was under $100 on a BRG.

I'm curious myself now how much the upgrades I posted vary from time to time.

City Room or Terrace Studio?

Hi! I tried to do a search but couldn’t anything posted on this (apologies if I missed!).

I am staying at the Cosmo with some friends in October for Halloween and have the option of booking a City Room or the Terrance Suite (both with 2 queens). The difference is $400+ over 3 nights (Thu-Sun), or 33% of the stay. The City Room is clearly the “deal,” but we want to be in the Terrance Suite if possible.

Has anyone had luck with the front desk upgrading from the City Room to the Terrace Suite? I’d ideally love a Terrace Suite with a fountain view, but I’m guessing that’s pushing my luck?

Any advice on what to book or maybe some real talk about what’s (not) possible at the Cosmo would be much appreciated? Thanks!

Will you be checking out on Friday, November 1 or staying the weekend?

If you have a mid-week stay, you might get lucky and score an upgrade of some sort. If you are staying over a Friday and/or Saturday night, I'd book (and pay for) the room you want to be in.
