Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

My wife and I stayed here last weekend using points. I am a Platinum member for what it's worth.

Great hotel and a great room. Our room faced South and was on the western (main) tower. We had a one bedroom terrace suite. Again, it was a beautiful room. Great lighting, huge shower and bath, two nice flat screens, etc.

We ate at several restaurants on the property. The food was good/great, but overpriced, which I expected before sitting down. We cancelled our reservation at the STK House after reading multiple reviews. The consensus seemed to be that the food was good (not great), but the tables were very crowded and it was a loud, almost club-like atmosphere. I will add that while the online reservations for STK showed it to be booked, the concierge was able to make a reservation for the time we wanted with only one day's notice.

As the above poster said, the Marquee nightclub is one of the hottest places in town. Lines formed an hour or two before it actually opened. We sat beside a VIP host (Darius) while eating a quick meal in the China Poblano restaurant. He showed us his list of tables for VIP service. A few had paid for $8000 - $10,000 that night for 4-5 tables of service/bottles. Hotel guests do get a bit of preferential treatment when getting in, but my guess is 95% of the clubbers were not staying at the hotel.

I booked a 2 1/2 hr spa package for my wife and she loved it. She said the spa was one of the largest and the most "plush" of any she's ever went to. They have large, beautiful spa suites as well for groups if needed. I scored a large amount of brownie points while doing this.

At check-out there were a few issues and there seemed to be with almost everyone with earshot. One thing is that all of their non-refrigerated mini-bar items are on a small "rack" that is monitored with sensors. I was told as soon as you pick up an item to just look at it, it gets charged to your room. We had a late checkout on Sunday and a hotel clerk came into the room to check while I was there. At checkout, we had 6-7 items that had to be removed. Also, we found out at checkout that we were supposed to have free buffet breakfasts both days. There was no mention of this. We were then going to be comped lunch on Sunday to make up for this, but we passed on that due to the lengthy wait - Mimosas and Blood Mary's can cause that. We were given a $40 gift card and we used this for a quick lunch at China Poblano. However, when we used the gc to pay, there was a balance of $37.xx on it and not $40.

Our arrival gift of milk and cookies turned out to be a small jar of candy. This was also charged to the room (lol) , but taken off at checkout.

The multiple pool areas are all gorgeous. They both have different features, which you can find online, but I do look forward to going back when its
warmer to enjoy them.

Make sure and check out the Chandelier bar. Tons of people stopped on the 2nd floor by the shops to take pictures. Just a really cool place.

One other thing - practically none of the hotel employees wear name tags. This is an attempt in hope of getting the guests to engage them more easily. All of the employees were extremely nice and eager to help.

Points - you can either get Marriott points or Identity points, not both.

The headaches were minor. We loved the hotel and did not want to leave, and definitely will be going back.

I know. It is astonishing.

This is transcribed directly from the literature I was given, and was also mentioned somewhere earlier in this thread:
Gold membership: Qualify by earning 20,000 identity points in a 12 month period.
Platinum membership:Qualify by earning 80,000 identity points in a 12 month period.
Earn Anywhere
As a member you accumulate identity points at all types of spending at the Cosmopolitan, be it dining, spa treatments, entertainment, gaming... or simply staying a night with us. So it's more than slots or table play. You earn points for all your favorite experiences too.
To earn 10 identity points you need only spend:
$1 on room accommodations
$4 on other resort spending
$10 in any shops
$15 wagered on reel/video reel slots
$50 wagered on video poker
$100 wagered on table games (approximate-varies by game)

From the reps I talk with, they really want to make it about more than gambling and want to attract people who want to spend money on rooms, spa, food... and be rewarded.

Treefrog, did you need to ask for your upgrade or was it automatic? Also, did you need to ask for the breakfast or was auto as well. I am Gold--not expecting a huge room upgrade but Bfast would be nice.

We did NOT get an upgrade from what I can tell. My actual reservation states the room as a Terrace Studio, which I'm 99% sure that's what we received. I think this may have been the only option to use points when I made my reservation.

I did not ask for breakfast, since I did not think I was supposed to get it. My last 3-4 point-stays in FS Marriotts have been at resorts where we had an all-inclusive option, so I wasn't aware of it here. I only found out about breakfast after seeing it on the clerk's screen during check-out.

The terrace studio and the city room are the standard rooms and are the same price. The only reason I would ever take the city view is that it has 2 queen beds which you can't get in the terrace studio. The BIG difference is the studios have the balcony and the city views do not. I am platinum and asked for an upgrade as I've heard others getting at least the one bedroom suite. If you are arriving throughout the week as opposed to the weekend, I'd suspect you'd have a better shot at this.

To give you an idea, the room size of the studio is about the same as the Palazzo suites or the encore standard room with a similar set up. The living area is seperated from the bed area by a 3 foot wall.

I've been trying to book a room using AAA rate. For at least the next couple of months on marriott dot com, the City Rooms are showing as $8000/night each night. Rack rate on city rooms price around $200, and terrace studio at AAA rate slightly more.

When I asked the Plat line about this discrepancy, the rep told me that the city rooms cost $8000.00 because they are so popular. Guess I'll book something else.

Going with my wife in the summer to LV. Debating about the Cosmo though as we stayed at the Four Seasons last year and it was great. The reviews on Tripadvisor, for the Cosmo, are very mediocre. I realize it's new and they are getting the kinks out right now but I don't want to risk a bad trip. It's for our 10th anniversary so want it to be good.

4S is great and has an awesome breakfast. Some decent deals too with the 3rd nt free. No casino and the only easy casino access is at Mandalay. Worth a stay. Mandarin is amazing. Have not stayed, but have toured. The rooms do not come cheap--even the cheapest ones. I walked Cosmo on my last trip and was pretty impressed. The Concierge made some dinner res for me for my next trip while I waited. I felt like they really wanted to make "friends" with non-gamblers as much as the gamblers.

The AAA rates come and go on the Marriott site. Originally I booked via Cosmo because there were only City views with 2 queens on the M site. I went back a week later and there were more rooms added so I rebooked and cancelled the original res. Long story short, keep checking.

As a Gold member, I emailed around about upgrades or breakfasts and got this answer...

"As a resort property in the Marriott Autograph Collection, we are only offering complimentary breakfast and complimentary upgrades (based solely on availability) to Platinum and Platinum Premiere Elite guests."

That said, they also confirmed an upgrade for me in advance which was unexpected but very nice. I think that is how you win over new guests. I know it is off season, but last week was all Zzzzzzzzzz's in town. Why not endear your new hotel to people by offering upgrades (of rooms that would probably go unbooked in off season) to folks that may come back again and again

I just completed my stay over Super Bowl weekend.

Check-in was efficient and fast. I had to point out my Platinum status so that the welcome amenity and free breakfast would be provided. I booked a terrace studio and was upgraded to a terrace one bedroom. Definitely ask for a room facing the Bellagio fountains. The welcome amenity didn’t arrive so I had to call down to remind them. They delivered a plate of cookies and milk.

I also requested a roll away bed and after 2 hours it was finally delivered. Late check-out was requested and I was only given one extra hour from the 11am check-out time. The wifi is free but one interesting item I noticed. I could not connect to the Marriott site my entire time there.

I really like the hotel and would stay there again. They still have a few service issues they need to work out being a new hotel.

This is not accurate. The city rooms are the least popular as they do not have a balcony. Get the terrace studio even if you have 3 people. They have a full couch which is very comfortable (not a pull out). I think that is a definite flaw as I got the option for either room for the AAA rate of $160 on weekdays and $176 on weekends. The weekend started at $208 but dropped to $176 about 10 days prior. Bring your paperwork though as they will not have it in their system.

You can also request a roll away bed. I got one for my stay and it wasn't in the way.

Thanks. Looks like they fixed the AAA rate and it's back down to earth.

Are there any good ways to use Marriott Gift Cards for room payment at The Cosmopolitan? If booked on Marriott dot com, my credit card is immediately charged. I wonder if the FD would post a credit to the CC and take payment from the GC. Anyone tried this?
