Half of the rooms post-renovation have desks; half of the rooms do not. If a desk is important to you, request it in your reservation or at check-in.

I think the difference is in the lounge itself and the way it's run. Sure there are a lot fo Marriott lounges around the world as I am sure you well know that some are better than others. This particular property has been consistently well managed, great staff and their pride is shown especially in the lounge. At the end of the say it's all about personnel preference.

Travel safe

Any comments on the top suites here? Also does any one have a GM or manager contact email? Looking to make an import reservation for a family event and would love a personal contact, thanks!

Just completed a stay here and I really liked this hotel. The location was perfect, its central-ish with easy access to the tram while being just far enough away from the main drag that you can go have fun while not having to stay in the middle of party central when your done. All the staff I interacted with (checkin, room service, bar) were great and the lounge was one of the best I've been to with 5 hours of open bar (beer/wine 5-10PM) and substantial food options (5-730PM) as well as coffee available all day (never really quite made it for breakfast ). My previous favorite hotel in AMS was Pulitzer (which left a while ago) and I have to say while lacking the novelty I actually preferred the Marriott due to location, lounge and bar. I did have a room with the "table" rather than a desk, initially I found this odd as it was an "executive room" but it had a L-shaped couch thing in front of it and was able to use my laptop just fine. I have previously stayed at the Renaissance, haven't tried the W, but based on this stay the Marriott will be my go-to in AMS.

Breakfast is truly the best here for any Marriotts. I can remember flying from Nairobi on KLM landing at 530am and all I wanted to do was get to the Marriott and east breakfast!! This Marriott makes a great dropping off point coming from the US stay a night leave bags fly on to Africa and then return. We have done this several times taking a safari and it works well

Stayed in a renovated room on the seventh floor overlooking Leidseplein. Had a choice of a jnr suite which was just a larger room with entryway but on a lower floor, but the higher floor room was cozier and had a great view over the tree tops and roofs. Lounge is a nice bonus: in the evening there were three hot entrees with at least one vegetarian option, such as gnocchi, pasta or fried veggie rice. Also, plenty of nice bread, smoked mackerel, cheese, variety of mini appetizers, etc. Breakfast in the lounge had almost as much buffet choice items as in the restaurant. Apart from longer breakfast hours, restaurant breakfast did not offer much additional value. The location was very good with a short walk to the museum quarter and to the canal ringed downtown. There is a nearby park (Voldenpark) to run and a dedicated bicycle parking stand area in the back of the hotel, past the valet parking. A-bike Rental and Tours bike store on the side street next to the hotel give bike rental discounts to Marriott guests. Riding a bike in Amsterdam can definitely be the highlight of ones visit: (checkout Amsterdam nigh lights festival through January 20).

We enjoyed the stay here since we wanted to see lots of places in Holland and this was a great base. We liked Keukenhof, Giethoorn, Flevoland, Haarlem, Utrecht, Kinderdijk, Hallerbos, and Alkmaar. We visited Zaanse Schans but found this very touristy for our tastes. Our favorite place was Amsterdam itself since it has so much charm and we had a week of 75+ degree sunny weather so it was perfect. We did note that not all rooms are accurately described on the website and some are much smaller due to the layout. The 11th floor has considerable noise from all the machinery, ventilation, etc upstairs so we opted for the 10th floor and that worked out well. The breakfast was great and we had some evening snacks when we were in town that were nice. We liked that it was right across the street from the tram stop since flying from SFO-AMS is a long flight and this hotel made it an easy trip to and from the airport.

I recently had a stay here. Totally enjoyed it.
- The lounge was maintained nicely. Food was great!
- House-keeping staff is friendly and efficient
- Location is great, easy for public transportation and close enough to downtown.
- Most importantly, I left some precious jewelry at the property after I checked out but the hotel was able to find them swiftly & return back to me (similar thing happened to me in W Paris, received three emails with different answers first "no", then "yes" and finally "still looking")

Beware of construction/club lounge closed

Just checked in today and was given a room on 2nd floor. They said at the time no other rooms were available. I unpacked and laid down and started hearing the worse jackhammering and drilling right below me. I went back down to front desk and she said oh they did not advise of the possible construction from 10-5pm. After I stood my ground that they had to move me she found a room on floor 5 on the other side away from construction. I never recalled seeing the note on the website a few weeks ago when I booked but she said its on the website now. I would have stayed at the Andaz or Renaissance instead
Also club lounge closed and its in a temporary spot in the ballroom area , another reason I would have choose another property

Any idea how long this construction is going to last? I have a stay here in early Sept. and the lounge is a big draw. If it wont be open, I will stay elsewhere. And there is nothing on the website about this, I just checked.

Is this the final phase of the refresh? If so that's great news other than what will happen with the two lounges, nothing I hope.

I also booked in March and didnt see it any notice about construction. Do you know where it is on the site or what it said? I have scoured the site just now and even made a dummy booking right up to payment and didnt see anything about construction. When it it supposed to be finished?
