Stayed in a renovated room on the seventh floor overlooking Leidseplein. Had a choice of a jnr suite which was just a larger room with entryway but on a lower floor, but the higher floor room was cozier and had a great view over the tree tops and roofs. Lounge is a nice bonus: in the evening there were three hot entrees with at least one vegetarian option, such as gnocchi, pasta or fried veggie rice. Also, plenty of nice bread, smoked mackerel, cheese, variety of mini appetizers, etc. Breakfast in the lounge had almost as much buffet choice items as in the restaurant. Apart from longer breakfast hours, restaurant breakfast did not offer much additional value. The location was very good with a short walk to the museum quarter and to the canal ringed downtown. There is a nearby park (Voldenpark) to run and a dedicated bicycle parking stand area in the back of the hotel, past the valet parking. A-bike Rental and Tours bike store on the side street next to the hotel give bike rental discounts to Marriott guests. Riding a bike in Amsterdam can definitely be the highlight of one’s visit: (checkout Amsterdam nigh lights festival through January 20).
