Can't seem to find a recent mention of successful funding of a TD Go account with a Barclay Arrival card.

I did an initial funding of a TD Go card with my Barclay last week. The amount appeared in "Pending Transactions" for two days, then dropped from PENDING and never showed up under POSTED. When I check the card on the TD site (haven't received it yet) it shows the balance as being the amount I funded... so it's not like it's been reversed, I assume.

Anyone have any recent experience with this... ie "Has anyone recently funded a TD Go account with a Barclay Arrival card and had the charges successfully show up as a points-earning purchase?"

Yes, I have loaded my TD Go twice with my Arrival card. Posted as purchase and received miles for it:

MERCHANT CATEGORY: PROFESSIONAL SERVICES NOT ELSEWHERE CLASSIFIED

Not sure why you're not seeing it. Maybe it's just taking a while to post for you? Mine posted in a few days.

Is there another prepaid card that can be bought at drugstores/grocery stores that can be used to load TD/USB cards?

Thanks,

One guess as to why one would do this is that you don't have a WMT nearby, seeing as you are from NYC? Maybe you'll have better luck using AmEx GC? Edit: Can only load w/ Visa or MC

But yeah, agreed with other posts, this is not an ideal way of using Buxx.

Interesting experience with us bank club carlson. My cl is 7k and I think cash advance is 25% which is 1750. Yet I loaded 1k in back to back days on td go. Must not pend as a cash advance or maybe anything over $0 ca will allow for unlimited purchases

My current strategy for TD Card (NYC) is-

Use Citi Exec card for Amazon Payments and to buy Mall GC's once or twice a month.
Use Chase card to Load TD.

Pay off Citi with TD, pay off Chase with GC's via Bluebird (assuming going to Walmart once a month, annoying because it's far. We usually make a trip out of it, visit a friend as well etc).

Seems to work so far, for any remaining TD money I suppose buying MO's somewhere in NYC... (Haven't tried to look yet).

has anybody tried funding evolve with visa buxx ?

Yes, I've used Buxx cards to pay bills via EM. However, because I have a cc with category bonuses, I find that using gift cards is a higher ROI strategy with Evolve.

Duffman May 19, 2014 8:35 pm

yep, exactly. Walmart is painful to get to and the MO options with VGC are unreliable. My options are using Arrivals to load TD and get ~ 2.1% cb (.1% fee) or use a 5% to buy gc's and net ~ 3.9%. Primary use would be to meet any min spend requirements and then load any extra space with some gc's, if any are loadable.

Always learning and happy to be corrected if I am missing anything. Also, no other options to load TD with Visa/MC GCs?

Thanks,

Do you know if TD has a limit on the number of cards or if a certain number of adding funding cc's has been known to raise flags?

Thanks,

Seeing as there is limitations of switching between cards... GC's are not advisable.

Then you haven't been in this game long enough to know that it happens on some cards.

I called in and the CSR was able to add the payment method on her end and loading the card for me just fine but told me to add if on my end but I still haven't been able to ...

So I got my newest Citi Exec card in the mail but I am still not able to add it on my end ... the CSR is able to add it and see it on their end but I can't load from it unless I call in. How annoying.

Really, annoying? This is nothing new, nor is the DC or CC for serve anything new. They are protecting themselves and giving you an MS channel - say thanks!

The wiki states that US and TD Buxx are good for Citi (no cash advance), but NW Buxx is not. Is that info still valid?

f0xx May 22, 2014 11:54 am

For the most part, yes.

What if the Teen card is under another name - anyway to pay off the Citi cards? They do ask if your name is the same. I think i read on the Citi thread that they can do it but i just wanted to check here first.

It doesn't matter what the teen name is on the card. It matters what the parents' account info is. I've paid off Citi cards no issue with teen cards that are in other people's names (parents/SO) but those cards were under a parent account in my name with all my info (billing/SSN/etc).
