No. I tried $499. Good idea, though. Appreciate the suggestion...I'll think about it & probably give it a shot & report back w DP ...though I'm trying to avoid declines and draw attention at a friendly Publix. I thought the issues described above (buying MOs for $475 rather than $485 etc.) were all based around DPs from Winn Dixie?? Has anyone on this thread had success with $479 or $475 at Publix when previously receiving "Not Authorized" attempting $499? I'd really like to try this particular wally Variable MC at Winn Dixie myself but it's a far drive and WD's are an absolute mess at the Cust Svc counter. I suppose if a $499 attempt triggers the decline from the card side ie Pathward/InComm (rather than the Publix POS) then $479 would have a shot of working.Originally Posted by FrequentFlyingMermaid
I'm assuming you tried less than $480 total including the MO fee. If not. try a MO for $479 with that card.
Datapoint. Failed attempt with incomm vvgc at Publix for >$450. Pos prompted message of no giftcard, prepaid.. rep said yeah you just want to insert chip then enter pin
Sounds hardcoded but idk. Been successful with vvgc for years. Ive never had a rep read off a message referring to GCs before.

That's a lot of hoops to jump through. But, if you don't want attention, just try to be discreet.

That advice is rather vague and meaningless. Also, if you're swiping the mag reader, you've already broadcast that you're using some kind of a prepaid card. The cashier will either stop you or allow to proceed, depending on the current rules.Originally Posted by wildcard442

DP:
successfully bought MO at Publix in S FL with MCGC (Pathward, BHN) bought from Staples.
$200 GC, bought a $199 MO. Paid the $.99 fee also from the GC, same transaction, so 1 cent left on the GC.
I had set a pin on the GC beforehand and had no trouble with it coming up as debit. Wish I brought the rest of my MCGCs on this trip to FL!

Thanks for the DP. It would be even more useful to test if Publix POS can autodrain payment cards (as they did in the past). Draining in $200 increments is rather impractical.Originally Posted by miamidolfan1354

Yesterday, I bought a $399.11 money order (.89 fee) at WinnDixie using 2 x $200 MCGCs. When I attempted to purchase a second money order, the swipe of a $200 gift card was "Not Authorized". That's happened to me before. Not sure why it does that.
SecureSpend VGC was "not authorized" today in Publix, when asking for $999 MO. Before today, I could use two of such cards without any issues (autodrain first and the rest on the second card). Last time I had success was on Monday, but not today. the card has full amount and was purchased a day before, so no issues with activation.

It seems Publix blocked Incomm Vanilla numbers as well for purchases > 480. Just few days ago it was possible to use at least $1K in one transaction, now - no more. Well, it least it works for <$480.Originally Posted by jk2

In the past, I've had success for $475 at WinnDixie swiping a $500 card, but I haven't been in a few weeks.Originally Posted by cbra2
Adding my DP, went after MO for $489.00 at WD. Did split payment for $200, first 5back card worked, no subsequent cards worked... tried many. Had to finish off with a real debit. Guess it's limited to 1 gebit only.
