Signing up to buy $1000 visa/mc gift cards
You can buy the $1000 cards on Simon's volume site. Their regular site only sells $500 cards.
If you're new, or haven't bought anything in a year, you need to register at https://www.simon.com/volume/register-consumer
As part of the registration process, you will have to go to a brick and mortar mall and buy at least $3000 in cards in person, as well as filling out some paperwork while there. After that, you can do everything online.

As of Nov 2020, Simon Mall Gift cards will only work for $99/swipe for money services at Walmart and many grocery chains.

$1000 gift cards are available indefinitely.

When I saw the email for the 35% off code, I laughed out loud. When I saw the email for the 25% off code, I said, "HA" so loud that I scared my girlfriend.

When I looked at the Simon website today, there was a disclaimer at the top that they’re experiencing high demand. Lower discount will slow orders from folks like us.

Nah. System-wide if more than $99, separate from the fee.

Did Simon lower the discount rates last year around this time? My daughter is approaching 2 years old, so flights costs are about to increase by 50% for me.

The discount fluctuates all the time. I think the best ever was 55% off all fees and the worst, 25% off (most recent)
There is rarely a month that you cannot get 45-50% off all fees

There are also other promo's with larger discounts but only off purchase fees so these are usually worse

My rule is not to buy the low end deals as Simon will price at what the market will bear

This is one of the longest stretches of lower-end deals, I'd say. There is a disclaimer on the website saying orders are running behind (although that wasn't my personal experience) so I presume they don't believe that they have to incentivize sales right now.

LOL indeed
Perhaps the entire marketing budget for Dec has gone to the promotion of gift card sales in the malls -- back when I used to frequent the mall there were typically deals around this time of year.

It's now been about a month where we haven't seen anything better than 35%. Would have purchased around $200k through them in this time frame but have done $0. Luckily have found other cheaper albeit time consuming ways to achieve the same amount of spend. There's certainly some premium i'm willing to pay for the convenience of going through Simon, but it's not as much as they're asking for right now.

Merry Christmas all!
I've been reading and studying these threads for a few weeks now. Do all Simons malls offer GC in person?
I'm planning to hit the Seattle Premium Outlets in WA in the new year, but it's a long drive for me so if anyone had reasons for me to not bother, it would save me the trip.

Not all Simon Malls sell VGCs in person. I would call ahead and ask.
