As of Nov 11, 2020, Meta gebits are getting declined when used for MO/BP purchases at MC/SD. New limit appears to be $99 per swipe. READ the posts below and add a data point with details. USB and GD gift cards do not seem to be affected.

DETAILS:
As of Dec 2019, WM BP in-store is reportedly affected by the $8000 total limit across all cards.
As of Nov 1, 2018, WM Billpay made via the WM app is limited to a total of $8000 total per person to all accounts per rolling 30 days.

Sep 13 2021 : If WM App is updated with no money services , then use the following for Android phone to get the working version.

This workaround no longer works.

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register. BP must be done at Customer Service/Returns or at the Money Center in stores that have it.
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.
ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction. ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
CheckFreePay (800) 676-6148. - Look up payments using CC number and time of transaction

BP by phone number lookup- Once your CFP account is set up, you can add CC. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services. Make sure you get 2 receipts, one from WM and a small one from CFP showing the CC# and Biller name you paid.

WM App - The Money Services works in express lane for Bill Pay.

Receipt tips: If you don't get a receipt and they have to print you one, make sure the CC you paid appears on the printed receipt. If not on receipt, call CFP with the manager to verify there is no payment processing. They can cancel any transactions and pay you in cash right away. If they cancel the transaction and their cash drawer opens, that means they should pay you in cash, if it doesn't open, the money will probably return to your cards. Not sure what happens on the same day? Watch their drawer when they cancel the transaction to see if it opens. If they say the money will return to your DC, make sure to write down the managers name in case it doesn't.

Payments:
Most cc can be paid 5 times by Visa/MC and 5 times by the issuing bank in rolling 30 days with a total of 10. There might be an 8K limit per rolling 30 days starting Oct 2018.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST (Holidays change post day)

Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

1) Yes. Why not? I didn't call and ask if I could pay $1998.50 5 times a month. What's so weird about someone paying a bill at Walmart?
2) Yes. It didn't work.
3) I went to the Moneygram site and found an agent to chat with. He told me it would cost $4.99 per payment. After seeing your suggestion I went on the WM app and found - "Synchrony Bank - Next Day" - for $4.99. I'll bet it's no accident.

Tomorrow at WM I'll try to do the payment via MG. The extra $3.50 is a big hit, but the profit margin on the EBates card can handle it. I wonder what the monthly limit is.

Please report back. I did also tried paying both visa and synchrony through check free billpay with no luck. I agree with your assessment that although the higher price is a downside, there is potential for this being a good deal.

I'm still unable to pay via MG. I tried biller code 7796 at WM and it said "Biller Code not valid" or something like that (the CSR told me, I didn't see the screen). I tried the app and it gave the message "Unexpected Error, try again later" or something like that - the message you get when you've exceeded 5 payments per 30 days - so I couldn't force the app to pay Synchrony. I tried "Pay Any Credit Card" but the fee is $8.95, which is too much - it's almost as much as I pay to buy the underlying credit cards.

Has anyone had success paying Synchrony?

Has anyone done WM BP late yesterday or anytime today? Has not been working for me through the app or through manual entry in store. It's not an "exceeds limit" error but a "temporary glitch" type of error.

Thanks. I figured out the issue. Even though people have said that the payment limit is $10K per account that you're trying to pay, it actually seems to be 5 transactions, which could well be significantly less than $10K. (This is relevant if you're in two-player mode, and each player uses part of their $8K monthly WM limit to pay the same account.)

Mobile app not working

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone been having issues with the mobile app for bill payment the past few days?
Keep getting the following message.
"We are having temporary system issues. Please try back soon."

Its happened a few times recently. You can ask them to look you up by phone # and manually do the transaction, but then you need to have the full card # available to which you're sending the BP.

Have you paid the biller before? If not, that's the error when you can't pay that payee.

If not you may have to wait it out. Make sure you have the updated version of the app.

That is the message you get when you have made more than 5 payments to that account in the past 30 days. There may well be other situations that trigger that message.

When you use the app for non-MG BPs (through CheckFree) can you do just as many BPs as you can do manually? I ask because in the past the limits were put in regardless of whether the payee was through MG or CF--so after $8K in app-based BPs, you couldn't do anything else for 30 days, including not being able to pay through CF to different cards. In other words, I'm asking has that bug has been fixed for CF BPs?

Isn't it a Walmart limitations and 8k is for all bill pay? Are u saying CF does not have 8k limit if u don't initiate from the app?

someone told me if not using walmart BP app, doing manually doesn't have any monthly limit....I never tried it myself.
