This is the thread for 2017. The previous discussion can be found here.

The VGCs sold at Staples are issued by Metabank. The activation code for online purchase comes in separate envelope. Cards purchased at store are activated at check-out.
To activate cards over the phone (without activation codes), call (877) 426-2551 to talk to a rep.
To activate cards over the web, www.giftcardkey.com.

The max VGCs sold at Staples.com are $300. No $500 cards. With its $8.95 or 3% card fee, it is only good if there is promotion (or rebate).

As of 5/12/2014, all known portals are dead.

Earn 5x points with Chase Ink, or Simply Cash for 5% cash back

Buy Visa gift cards (Metabank) at Staples ($200 for $6.95) or the website ($300 for $8.95).

2k Limit per transaction / 10k per day for online. In-store is usually 2k but YMMV

Often times, there are promotions with no or reduced activation fees

I never received the $20 VGC from the last go around after the shipment notification. Been about 3 weeks now. Contacted support and they said keep waiting (lol).

Anyone been through this before?

The early/mid May rebate I am still missing 1 out of my 5, although that one is out of town this week so it may have arrived. The late may rebate/early june rebate(s) I haven't' received any of them, as I anticipate all other people are in the same category. I always do at least one rebate the Sunday it comes out so I should always receive those first.

Just received rebate from the most recent vgc promo, it's slightly different than the previous rebates. This card has a label on it that says call to activate and the letter says it has to be ran as credit even though it's a debit card. Will see if it still works as debit using last 4 as pin anyway whenever I get around to liquidating it.

It's not in the print ad, but I see it online when I look at the weekly ad by category.

Buy $300 in Visa Gift Cards, Get $15 Visa Prepaid Card via rebate
I'm sure that it's in-store only.

Yes, go to https://rebates.staples.com and click "Find Rebate." Then select "Blackhawk Network" from the drop-down list and the rebate pops up first. This is the most reliable way to find Staples rebates.
