Any of the stores that are scheduled to close SHOULD be refusing WU services already. I have 4 Kmarts in my area and the two that are closing in April stopped doing any WU transactions on January 2nd.

But we arent using a CVS giftcard. We are using a non-reloadable visa prepaid card.

Indeed, but I have one local store that the manager insists corporate policy is that prepaid visa is against corporate policy. I also have two stores in a very poor MS area have signs posted that say don't accept.

However, the one closest to my home and the first 6 CVS I went all accept the prepaid Visa.

Does anyone know what the corporate policy if officially?

Alas, that is exactly what happened at my favorite KM. I lost one of my best MS locations.

You'd have to think that if CVS is going to participate in the 5B program, they're going to accept these cards.

I think some of the confusion comes from when the rep scans a prepaid card, a box pops up telling them you can't use a CVS gift card or money card to pay for the transaction. Some conflate that statement with all gift cards and the cards we're using that don't have your name on them.

I tried it again today and mentioned casually about KM closures, it seems like the manager is in denial, he said he hasn't heard anything and they're business as usual. Well.....okay!

Not in this unicorn store, if what the SM says is true. I honestly hope his store isn't up for closure but if that floats his boat, I'll help him keep it afloat :D I'd be glad to find out the article I read is wrong, I'd be so sad to lose this venue of GC liquidation for huge arbitrage.

The CVS manager of my go-to store has been there for a long time so I asked her about the policy regarding no GCs for any type of GC. She told me it refers EXCLUSIVELY to buying CVS GCs and third party GCs like BK, PJ, amazon, etc. She said Vanillas and MC GCs are excluded from this rule as far as SHE knows. I asked her why CVS GCs aren't even accepted for paying the fees for vanillas, she said registers have always been programmed that way as far as she can remember but other prepaids like @mex has, and will always be accepted as long as she's the SM, as payment. Therefore, paying prepaid GCs for other GCs is fine at HER store but no CVS GCs accepted for paying GC fees.

I've tried to buy a Starbucks and Amazon gift card (separately) using a CVS gift card and the register stops you. I've tried it with a cashier and at self-checkout so it's hard coded.

How many people have been getting the following message when using fivebacks at CVS:

Alternate Form of Payment Required

I unloaded a batch of 4 FB without an issue today. But after the transaction, the cashier / store manager volunteered the following info. There's a memo being prepared now, and will become effective chain-wide from next month (Feb). All registers will be reprogrammed not to accept gift/prepaid cards as payment for other prepaids.

At least we can appreciate the "soft landing". I hate surprises, although the exact implementation date is not a promise.

thats only a system thing. once managers get wind of this they're going to drop the hammer like tom cruise in days of thunder.

What's up with memo in the Wiki? That can't be the one referenced recently with a February cash-only date, Imgur says it was uploaded 3 years ago.

Re-read the wiki. Two different products.

Well, Feb would be nice as that gives a few weeks but the high volume CVS' managers will be thrilled to start dropping the hammer now.

livestrongforever Jan 9, 2017 11:48 am
