I do feel like the huge AGC purchasing is the more likely issue - that could have been a factor in my shutdown too.

Of course, we'll never know. That's the way they want it.

Mine are fine right now, but I see that periodically with Citi.

Capital one credit cards closed

Capital one closed all 5 credit card accounts I had with them today. No warning. They sent me a letter, but when I called their reason was something like " not using the card for intended purpose" or something similar. I got pretty screwed had a lot of miles for travel and got 50% value statement credit for them. I only used 2/5 cards for MS.

Can you tell us the details of the MS that you were doing? and how many times the CL each month and for how long? Did you allow the balance to go negative?

Thanks in advance and sorry you got shut down.

Mine and wife's Citi accounts are closed - noticed that credit line on all cards is $0. Called and was told that all accounts are closed, as of yesterday. They cannot tell a reason, of course, insist on writing to Office of President and they will communicate. Significant amount of TYP is gone (600K for me, and 600K for my wife). I have no idea what went wrong - small amount of MS on cards (comparing to CL). Citi closed our checking back in July. CSR mentioned that TYP are forfeited as well. Any chance to get them back?

They closed your checking account and you did not liquidate your TYPs right away after that closure?

BIG lesson learned I suppose. Sorry for your loss.

Hey thanks for responding. Citi was in the middle of an upgrade and the details were unavailable for ~ 6 hours. So you are correct.

I chickened out as the day before I had Xfered a lot of TYP out to KF :D:D

My condolences. With Citi, you usually have a period of time (60 days I think) to use the TY points when you account is closed. Not sure if this applies to AA closures.

How did you accumulate 1.2 mil in TY points with "small amounts of MS". What's your definition of small?

I started to accumulate points back to 2013 during 5x bonanza, also opened prestige and premier cards, there were plenty retention offers on my preferred card (like 3x unlimited last year, 50K on my prestige card).

I don't understand why the banks cannot tell you the reason for the closure. That law needs to change for disclosure purposes. That is such BS. But man 1.2 mil TYP gone is just crazy. Sorry for the loss.

Very sorry to hear your loss. As for me, as soon as I have enough for two J tickets...those points start to burn a hole in my pocket! I don't think I could save up that many points.
