Wow. When my US Bank accounts got closed, I was not able to get the number of anyone to talk to about it, they just said they were terminating their relationship...

synchrony bank
Anyone ever dealt with synchrony bank?
They are the provider of my Gap card. My Gap card earns 5x this month and 3x last month. It is suspended and they asked me to mail a copy of drivers license and a utility bill. |

Add me to this growing list of Citi checking closures. Just got back from out of the country and see the letter is from 7/22. Both my checking, all savings accounts. Same exact for my wife but she only has one checking. Accounts closed effective 8/31. They do not disclose reasons, but say after review of bank information and records. Whatever that means.
Sad, however, not nearly as sad if it was the credit cards :) |

Also annoying is you cannot charge beyond your credit limit even if you overpay.

Not really. Wife had zero MO activity... last 3 months had 7 transactions that were either debit purchase or bill pay. Absolutely no MS activity. I had minimal MO activity on my account. Her account open 20+ years, mine 10+. Really don't understand, but don't know if I want to invite further review either. My credit card activity with Citi is egregious. :D

Barclays Rewards MasterCard shut down and no reason given. Had it for several years. Did all my regular spend and paid all my utilities with it since getting it. $13,000 limit and did about double that each month including regular spend and MS. Always paid in full and never paid a penny of interest. Maybe I should reapply in a month or so. Anyone have an idea of whether I will likely be blacklisted from getting a Barclay Card again?

Citi CC accounts closed
Woke up to a terrible email this morning from Citi with the subject: Notice of account closure(s)
I logged on to my account and found a letter stating: We’ve closed your account(s) Based on information obtained from a consumer reporting agency, we’ve had to close the following account(s): [Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select] [Citi ThankYou Premier] Specifically, your credit report indicates too many recently opened accounts. Please don’t attempt to use your account(s), as no more transactions will be authorized. You’re still responsible for repayment of the outstanding balance(s), and you’ll continue to receive monthly statements until it’s paid in full. Important information for you Our credit decision was based, in whole or in part, on information obtained in a report from the following consumer reporting agency: Experian PO Box 2002 Allen, TX 75013-0036 1-888-EXPERIAN (1-888-397-3742) Please note, other than providing information, the reporting agency played no part in our decision and is unable to supply the specific reasons why we closed your account(s). You have a right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to know the information contained in your credit file at the consumer reporting agency. We encourage you to review your credit report for accuracy. This card had some real, big purchases when I was meeting min spend. Half MS as well. Didn't touch it after that until now. Made a $1.5k purchase on GiftCards.com on Saturday. It didn't go through so I called Citi and they said I'd have to call when the security department was open M-F. Thought that was strange at the time, but I wasn't worried. Now it's Monday and I got this email. It might be a coincidence, but I doubt it. ThankYou Premier: $10.5k limit, $104.33 balance, opened 5/15 MS to meet min spend. Then $1.7k in real spend since then. I was starting to like this card. I guess I'll have to revert to my Chase Sapphire (not Preferred). 15 hard pulls on Experian in the past two years. 7 were from mortgage shopping and a rent credit check, the rest were credit cards. 760-800 Experian FICO. No missed payments ever. 16 (now 14) CC accounts open. Since getting the last Citi card (TY Premier), I opened four new accounts (2x BOA AS, Discover it, Amex SPG). After getting the last one, I decided to hold off on new cards for a while. I guess I overshot. :td: First shutdown and it sucks. Called Citi and they confirmed accounts were closed. Mentioned that they do a check every so often and that I had too many new accounts, as stated in the letter. Nothing they can do, but they said I can reapply. I was still able to transfer my 54k TYP out just now. I didn't have long-term plans to keep the AAdvantage. Not sure about the Premier with the AF. I guess they saved me from doing the retention calls. I did want to convert to a Double Cash though. There goes that plan. Any advice? Should I just let it go? Or call and ask for a supervisor? |
