Anyone ask for a rain check?

About 25 years ago, an angry customer sued a business for 'false advertisement' because when he walked in a store could not find the advertised product. The defense lawyer argued that the consumer response to the advertisement is unpredictable, impossible to maintain the inventory, so the judgement to the business was to issue a rain check and the consumers are required by law to accept the rain check (no gas money!) before considering a law suit for false advertising.....so, now business have a practice of issuing a rain check for their own protection against future lawsuits.

If you were able to walk into a OM/OD and pick up 12x 100's, the pickings are not slim

Just as a data point... wife and I went into the same office max at different times, I got the discount no problem. She bought some and they took the discount and then made her buy a $20 officemax giftcard with the discount.

So basically... YMMV

My local OM advertised it as VISA cards only for $20 off per $300. There were a few $200 MC's left but tons of $100 Visa gift cards. Wasn't worth it as I'd end up with little profit but stuck with a bunch of $100 gift cards. Didnt buy any...

Just buy the cards with cash.

I am curious why no one talks about just buying the $300 variable cards with cash? You still make 5% profit and its instant. All the OD around me have been out of stock of the $200 from day 1, but plenty of the variable ones

Said with the cash already...if you are not that greedy, can use it for non-bonus category to offset the bonus category on cards you don't want to lose, etc.

I know its cash only. But at the end of the day most of are are doing MS for points and cash. So, this is a really easy way to make 5% cashback instantly without running up CC balances. I am already pushing Amex and Wells Fargo really hard for the 5%. I have been buying the $300 VGC with cash to make even more 5% returns.

I already purchased > 10K in cards. Easy $500 profit without worrying about crossing limits with my CCs.
