Methods for paying Amex

Looks like Amex might be cracking down on bill pay (checkfreepay and 7-11 BP dead). Now the only way I know how to pay Amex is BB or Cash.

Anyone found other methods?

Just use BB.

Seriously though, what do you mean by "cracking down?"

"Cracking down" in the sense that they are actively cutting themselves off from these billpay networks.

I don't live anywhere near a Walmart (in SF here) and not about to drive 45 minutes regularly to Mountain View or pay a toll to go to Oakland, so looking for alternatives.

What's in Mountain View or Oakland that provides opportunity?

Deposit a MO.

Send a payment.

Rinse, repeat.

NO, do not get excited guys, the closest WM to SF are in Oakland and Mountain View. Though beware, Mountain View has gone the way of the dodo bird. They are a very interesting case, they are HAPPY to let you slide all day - but they refuse to let you slide for MO, as there has been too much fraud. So sad...

Like BB, You can use Serve

I use a VISA card to make five $200 deposits from a VISA card into my regular Serve card every month. I then deposit the $1,000 once a month to bill pay my Amex credit card.

After the first few $200 payments, Serve gets shut down. You have to call in to Serve and "authorize" the card to make the deposits from. But once the Serve rep verifies you actually own the VISA card, then everything works fine.

Serve deposits take about three days to show as credited to the account receiving the money.

Once set up, this is painless way online at home to generate $1,000 a month in MS from a VISA credit card, and (in my case) BP'ing to an Amex card.

Using Amex to pay into Serve does not work so well because you don't get miles.

Amex has become too difficult for MS. Just cancel. All your amex accounts and Move all your MS to discover.

I didn't know people bothered to pay the bill. Doesn't that eat into your earnings?

In my experience, Amex happily receives payment in many forms - via check you write and send them, via all the online bill payment services I've tried, and even by phone from your checking account. They would probably accept crates of coins if you have any left over from the Mint days.

What exactly does the OP mean by "cracking down"?
