What do I tell the H&R Block folks to allow them to give me an emerald prepaid card?

I think it should be possible to load it in Walmart since this card supposedly supports Rapid Reload. But I read there's generally a 3.74 fee for Rapid Reload. Maybe Gobank and Bluebird are the only exceptions.

Just an FYI, I can confirm that you can load two $500 VRs onto the card in a single day, so the limit isn't precisely $999.99, it's $1,000, at least for VRs. I don't think anyone has to go out and start getting $499.99 on their prepaid load cards...

Ok, you're right; that's my bad. VRs can apparently go up to the full $1000. If you're using MP, at least in my experience, you'll have to drop the cent. Unless this changed very recently.

Where is this information from?
Likely ask another rep and you will be told a different answer. I'd like to see any reports of someone who goes over $5k

I believe the actual load amount is 10 loads per month, which means that depending on what card you use to reload, such as a reloadit vs. a VR, that can change the maximum $ amount you can load. However, I have no access to reloadit cards, only VRs, so someone else is going to have to report back to confirm this.

Willing to send someone some type of compensation via Paypal to create detailed instructions on how the tax preparer should do this. If you got one for yourself, go with your wife and take screenshots with cell, sanitize, and provide a quick write up.
Let me know how much you would charge.
The 3 H&R Blocks I've tried keep deferring to district manager. Can't even get them to try, since I've never been a pre-existing customer.

walked in told the guy I wanted an emerald prepaid, told him I tryed over the phone but was told I had to come into a branch. He told me to fill out a form. I waited then someone came out and immediately started asking me questions about my taxes...I just went with it, answered her questions. Then later asked about the emerald, and pointed to the pic of it on her wall, she talked more about how it was for my refund. I told her I claim 3 dependents but dont have any, so I dont get a refund, but i would like the card. She said sure and walked me through the app.
I actually have an appt next week to talk more about my taxes. I am going to have to call and cancel.

I went in after work, and the method is very simple:
1. Employee does to "Emerald Perks" Icon on their desktop. NOT the tax software, it cannot be found in there.
2. Its all very simple, directs the employee through step by step.
3. You are not "friends and family" or it will mess up.
4. ID address must match or else bring in mail proving correct address (utility bill, etc)
They did say that the promotion period to get a card without taxes ends 1/31, but who knows.
I will say, it might be better not to make an appt. I think they are tracked based on appointments/sales/etc. They told the front desk to not put me in their scheduling system.
All of this is YMMV of course, but I was in and out in 5 minutes. Very painless and super friendly.
