made a payment to my car loan on July 31st with a metabank gift card and chose the earliest day possible (August 4th). checked my car loan balance today and it showed payment was posted on August 1st.

EDIT: Also, I don't see any Express Pay options on the mobile app, the earliest pay date is always 2 days from today.

Same thing happened to me. Made 4 mortgage payments this past Saturday the 2nd. Earliest payment option was the 6th. When I submitted the payments it said pending for the 7th. Both payments posted today, however. Paid some utility bills today that also listed the 6th as earliest payment date and pending for 7th when submitted. We'll see when they actually post.

I don't know if it's mentioned, but it looks like the bug only exists with the biller with the lightning symbol or with the express pay available.
I have no problem paying my student loan which doesn't have the lightning symbol and the earliest date to choose is 2-3 days after.
My PSEG with the lightning symbol has today's date available for express pay and payment fails if I choose one day later.
So it looks like for the express pay enabled biller waits until the day of the payment to charge whereas they charge immediately for the biller without the express pay.

I've noticed the same thing. The icon indicates that you can do express payments for $1.50 fee. I've had issues for several days in a row now trying to pay my Chase car loan.

I hope this helps. If you are trying to pay a bill that is now a combined express/nonexpress bill with a gift card then you'll have to click through the due dates and fin one that says you will be charged on <today>:

I am trying to pay a utility bill and I have the same problem that if I select today (8/1) as my due date then I have to pay the express fee of $1.50, but I get charged today.

I clicked due date of tomorrow (8/2) and it says I will be charged on 8/2, but I assume it'll get rejected since I'm using a Staples rebate card.

I clicked through the dates and when I select due date of 8/5, it says I will be charged today (8/1). I paid my bill with the 8/5 due date and the prepaid balance website says Evolve charged my card today!

BOOM! This appears to be the issue. I am trying again with dates that show my card will be charged today instead of tomorrow. For me this means paying bill on 7th with charge on 5th. Paying 6th says card charged on 6th. Crazy.

For billers with the lightning bolt you just need to keep clicking the days until you see one that says it will be charged today. Usually it is 2 days after the current day. Don't get why this is but as long as I know what to do it doesn't bother me.

I haven't used evolve before. I would like to make some payments via evolve and I am not sure which gift cards to buy that can be loaded to evolve and I'd hate to make a mistake. I was thinking of getting a $500 visa gift card (the kind with the picture of the ribbon on the front). Do onevanilla cards work as well?

Any update on this?

i've used two cards Evolve so far: Mastercard Gift card (gold card with a box and ribbon background) banked by US Bank. The other was a VISA gift card through Metabank that I believe is the one with the ribbon you mentioned as it had a gray background.

Thanks, I will check the visa gift card to see if it says Metabank. I noticed that other posters talked about OneVanilla debit as well and I see a bunch of those at CVS.

Upon checking the cards again they are all issued by bancorp and I don't see debit mentioned it just says vanilla visa gift card, one vanilla prepaid visa card and vanilla MasterCard gift card. All can be loaded up to 500

OV works on Evolve. I've used them many times.
