Anybody have data points on Wells Fargo's system regarding combining Evolve and fund transfers? The wiki details what happens if Evolve payments exceed mortgage payment, but what I want to do is 4x $200 payments and a $330 bank transfer (from Wells Fargo checking) for a $1130 mortgage. I suppose if this doesn't work, I could time the bank payment to match the day the Evolve payment is supposed to go through.

I just paid WF. My mortgage is $2,4xx. I did four $500 through evolve and $4xx transfer from my checking to Wells. You do have to call to complete the transfer because the WF online payment system does not allow partial payments.

Edit: Also an additional data point: The timing between the different payments mentioned above was about one day difference at most. I spoke to a rep one time and he asked me to time the payments within a one to two days difference. Otherwise, it will be all applied as principal.

Not true. If you time all payments so they post the same day, and it's in the exact amount of your total payment, the system recognizes it automatically.

Same experience for me on WF. $1500 mortgage, payment applied to amt due with 3 $500 payments on same day.

I used to do the weekend thing with Evolve for my WF mortgages, so I understand that if all payments posted on the same day equal the amount due, it'll go to mortgage payment.

But what if the payment sources are different? Some of the payment via Evolve, some of it from checking. For example, submit 60% of the amount due via Evolve on Monday, anticipating that it'll post on Wednesday. Then transferring the remaining 40% on Wednesday so all payments post on the same day.

Just want to add a data point for Bank of America mortgage payment.
my 1st one, I did it over the weekend (July pmt) and they arrived the same day. Bank of America applied it all to principal and I had to call to reapplied to regular payment.

This month, Evolve made some changes so I was a little confused. But, I tried anyway. Made 2 pmts on Monday (for payment date 08/13) and 2 pmts the next day for (08/14). I regretted myself for not putting the 1st 2 payments for 08/14 but I thought I will fix them when I called in.

However, to my surprise, by having 2 separate payment days, bofa applied the payment automatically. Instead of applying to principal (like July pmt), bofa put it on partial payment. So, I dont need to call.

oooo, excellent. I will try this next month with BoA for ours. I had same issue as you previously. Took a while on phone to change so I was just using up $100/200's x's 4 for extra principal paydown. If I can use $500's and actually pay the bill in addition to extra principal that way would be ideal. Will report back for my experience in Sept.

Adding additional datapoint: I am in the same boat with $2,4xx mortgage with wells fargo, I was making 5 payments via evolve until they stopped allowing it and I had to call once because i paid too early (prior to due date) and had them apply the funds to my mortgage payment instead of principal. For August, I made 4x$500 payments that credit to my account on 8/4 and 8/5 and pay my remaining balance of $4xx via check.me which was credited on 8/14. My mortgage was marked as paid on 8/14 w/o any intervention from me.

That's good to hear.

But curious, why did you wait so long after your Evolve payments (8/5) to pay off the balance with you checking account? Also, is there a reason you didn't time all your Evolve payments to deposit on 8/5? Thanks

That's odd - I have almost the exact same thing as you - two payments on 8/13 (from Evolve) and three payments from 8/14 (2 from Evolve, the rest through my bank's bill pay). All were applied, according to the website, to principal until I emailed them to fix (at which point they all show up with a reversal and repost). But, I did email them the evening of 8/14

In your online history report on BofA - does it actually show up in the "partial payment" column, or under the principal payment? Just wondering if they would automatically adjust postings to principal automatically.

BTW - after calling them the first time, I just Secure Message them. Less hassle.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of mortgage do you have? I wonder if they post differently depending on the product type you have.

Your statement is not in conflict with mine except the "Not true" component of it.

Dave, the timing was before I figured out I could do weekend payments by changing the payment dates until I can find one that will charge the card immediately. As for waiting to pay off my balance, I was on a business trip and didn't have access to my bank info to link check.me to my bank account and WF doesn't support partial payments from their website. This was the first month I had to use check.me because of the 4 payment limit.

Can you at least link your Penfed mortgage to your check.me account? I do see that you can link Penfed but not sure if the mortgage would show up.

I don't have a Pedfed account but only trying to help.
