This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.

Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.

ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.

ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

Following do not work:
Any and all Vanilla VISA, Vanilla MC, and OneVanilla VISA.
Glimcher VISA

Go read the Chase A/A thread on DDF. You'll quickly learn that shutdowns don't occur because of WM BP, per se. They mostly occur when you mix stupidity with greed.
Spot on. Similar to all the folks complaining about getting their AAdvantage accounts audited. They typically usually claim that they got an award "for a friend" and suddenly got audited out of nowhere but there always ends up being something more to the story. Keep your MS in moderation and you'll be fine. Also, be careful where you deposit money orders.

Depositing too many money orders has been my biggest fear, which is why I constantly do WM BPs. However, I am beginning to wonder if banks treat these the same as cash deposits and/or how often eyes will look at the number/amount of payments.

Exactly.

Define unintended use of credit.

THIS, people is why one might sometimes wish to sue FIs if only to remind them of THEIR limits of abusing customers

Is this normal for WF credit card?

I used WMBP ($1998.12) using Visa as a payee. Payment posted within a time frame but my limit hasn't been released yet after almost a week. For the reference, I paid on 4/21/14, payment posted on 4/23 but limit is still not released. I am not too worried as I have large CL to play but this is just annoying.

I'll take your bait....I have yet to see a report on this forum (or hear from anyone) about someone being shutdown for excessive retail MS (CVS, staples, target, etc). I suppose cycling through a credit limit too many times in 1 statement could be a trigger, but again, haven't really seen any reports of that. Sure people will say that they bought a few thousand in GCs or VRs and got shutdown, but there is just about always more to the story. From what I've seen, that more typically includes:

1. heavy MO deposits into checking accounts (particularly chase) that are used to pay cc bill or heavily using MOs to pay credit cards. The limit here is different for everyone, but this is a well defined AA.
2. Opening multiple credit cards and having them report with high balances. Makes one a credit risk in banks eyes.
3. Very large cash equivalent transactions. I'm referring more to paypal or AP instead of AGCs since AGCs don't convert as directly to cash. This again indicates credit risk.
4. CC company notices awfully high credit limits and spending relative to income. There are reports of this type of shutdown, both straight off the bat or as part of an FR.

My main concern is that Wally's BP could fit into category #1 fairly easily. Moderation is obviously different for everyone, but for me the number is probably around $20k per month. When spread out over multiple issuers the amount spent per issuer easily squares with my income. Obviously folks do much more, but this keeps me comfortable and (hopefully) keeps banks from paying too much attention. I will probably only BP $2k per card/ month so I don't raise too many flags, as my CU will let me deposit $15k in MO per month.

Typically I think people have used WF consumer loans as the payee. Not sure if that has anything to do with the delay or not.

How do the credit card companies know the Checkfree payment comes from Walmart? My credit union uses Checkfree as the billpay in home banking. The details appear identical when I billpay from the credit union, BB and WM.
