I made an 8k purchase spread out over 3 cards this week. I ended up having to fill out a large purchase form though. (I hope that this was ok)

I too had to fill out one of those forms but it really didn't ask me anything I hadn't already filled out on the order form anyway.

8k over 3 cards is good.
Im trying to get 5-figures in one go.

Can someone check my math here.

Card earns 2x at grocery stores, but only 1x at giftcards.com.

If I buy a $500 GC at the grocery store, the fee is 5.95 and I earn 1000 miles. Cost is 0.595cpm

Thru this deal, I buy a $500 GC and the fee is 2.94 (4.95-4.00+1.99) and I earn 500 miles. Cost is 0.588cpm.

So, I have to spend twice as much to get the same number of miles, I have to wait for them to arrive in the mail, and I only save 0.007cpm (or to put it more clearly, 7 cents on every 1000 miles).

Unless there is a cashback element on top of that (someone mentioned 2%), I'm clearly missing why this is such a great deal....

to some people, (like me) I live in a place where no grocery/minimart/drugstore takes credit cards for any prepaid cards. so no vanilla reloads or prepaid cards for me. so anything under 1 cpm is a good deal.

Fair enough. Although, if you have a Chase card, those are still free and 0 cpm beats everything, well, expect for the times where they pay you to take the money as Safeway has done recently

Where do you see 2% CB? The maximum I could find was $1 and they stated it doesn't work if you use coupons.

bought 2500 on my chase united card to help reach my 25k spend bonus of 10k miles. Using NEWGRAD13 I spent 1.94 for each 500 card.

That they are required by law to provide one in order to limit transaction processing costs for the retailers I shop at. Or that I want to use it at Costco
