I was only using a 1% card. A variable MCGC with a 2%+ card could test for "free".

I can confirm that this deal is over for now. We will have to see what promo they come out with next. Seems like they run somethig every couple of months or so.

It is worth it to Safeway because they are so bloody aggressive in high food prices! I never shop there, other than for these card deals, and some odds and ends. Looking at my year so far, 2 times. Waaay too expensive for me. That said, the deal works out for them. Forces me to spend 10 bux on something. Their thinking in for 10 in for more! Tack on their margins and it works out just fine.
