FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: CWAL
A new thread was created for the new year in 2017. This is the old thread. For the 2017 on this topic, go here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1819562-cvs-master-thread-2017-a.html

CVS is cash only for all Incomm-related reloads and reloadable cards, including Vanilla Reloads and Serve swipe reloads. See memo to stores for complete list. Other cards at CVS can still be bought using credit, but YMMV depending on location, Manager, etc.

New limits rolling out starting 10/20:
Transactions with $300 or more of card face value require ID.
Limit $2000 of card face value per 24 hour rolling period.
Limit of 10 cards per 24 hours.
Cashback posted in 48 hours.

Cash Register Freezing
Multiple reports that the CVS cash register will freeze and lock after scanning the ID when purchasing multiple prepaid cards. Then the register's computer needs to be restarted. Some report that "swiping" the ID instead of "scanning" will avoid the issue.

Limit of 7 tenders (swipes) per transaction. This is most commonly run into when using low-value AGCs. After seven, the transaction must be complete, no cash (or any other payment method) will be accepted to pay the balance.

At least it is easily readable unlike most real Captcha codes.

Only one has been out, and it is one that didn't even have reloads until 3 months ago and I only check there as a back-up since it's by my house. Go 2 miles down the same road, and Nirvana appears.
Never mind then. I had just had a lot of difficulty in the past 2 weeks in my area and also read others had too. Nothing more here, move along.

Does anyone have success in the recent days around downtown DC?
I understand 24hr CVS on 14th is out. Other CVS? Tyring to make a run to the store. Just wanted to know the general area (as you want to hide the gem, right?)
Thanks.

UPdate: Just on a whim, I went to the closest CVS outside my office and found the very thing I was looking for!! They let me buy it with CC but only downside was the max was $500!

So my question now is, where is the other CVS that lets you buy up to 5K?

I'm lucky thus far that I have found a couple (Chicago area) that still have a stash available but because of my lower CL and only two CC's that have more than 1x cashback on them, I've only been getting a couple at a time. I'm afraid once the stash is gone, then we're SOL for a while.

I hope not.

I'm new to this. What records do you need to keep? Household income/expenses or are you talking about records specific to the VR?

I keep all actual cards/receipts, then on excel spreadsheet: date, what cc I purchased with, and where liquidated
