I've found just the opposite to be true, but I live in the burbs. I went and spoke to my manager and now he orders whatever I need. It does take time to foster this relationship, but it will be well worth it. Go be open and honest with the manager and it might not hurt to drop off treats or something. The other day, I was buying peanut M&Ms (on sale 2 for $2) and the checker commented that he loved those so I tossed him the extra pack (lord knows I don't need them both) and you would have thought I just made a school loan payment for him.

VRs are getting more scare in Dallas. The CVS literally a minute's drive from my house hasn't had them in 2 months after I've been buying them for over a year. I have to drive to another CVS a few miles away. However, this worked in my favor as the other CVS lets me buy $2,000 in one transaction where the closer CVS capped me at $1000 per day.

I went to CVS and filled up on $5k of VRs. The cashier who rang my cards up was also the manager and asked ME what the limit is. I say 10 cards. After checking with another cashier who gave the same number, he said to me "I'd thought you might know."

He was curious about what I do with all the cards and I didn't want to risk pissing him off, so I told him I pay 1% for VRs and get 5% in CC rewards, cashing out with BB. I suggested he use Google. He seemed to find it interesting but I'm not sure he got it.

Passing through the anti-shoplifting gizmo on my way out, I noticed it was covered in Amex Serve ads.

Just checked with a manager at a CVS near work. He said the limit went up to $5000 on all and any gift cards per day. I was able to do single transaction of $5k. No more running around for me. This is awesome!

I'm way more busy these days and am thinking I'd like to start doing this or at least 2-3K per trx. However I'd prefer not to use the same CC for the entire purchase. Is it possible to split the payment with several CCs? If so what's the most you can use on one purchase?

let me turn the questions around, why couldn't you split the transcation? If you read this thread you would see the answer.

Your second questions really shows you need to read this thread.... Yes, I could spoon feed you the answer, but educating yourself in this game is really needed before playing it.

I have done one transaction with split payments among 4 CC.

we all might do split payments on things but be aware that if something goes wrong it could affect all things

I just want to say thank you to everyone for the help here.

I own two homes, and pay roughly $3500/month in mortgages. I charges as much as I can on my AMEX for points. It has always killed me that I can't pay my mortgage with my AMEX card. I will definitely look into this.

Thanks again!

CVS now $1k/day?

Bought these in DC for the first time today. They made me buy them each in separate $500 transactions. That was only after she got the manager to make sure I could use Credit Cards and even then refused to let me swipe and said she had to swipe on the register. Oh, DC.

I don't know if it REALLY helps the pay the mortgages, unless you have someone else paying your credit card bills.

You're right. BB --> CC accomplishes the same as BB --> Mortgage. I personally would never trust paying my mortgage from a prepaid account only because prepaid cards can and will shut you down. Then you might have to scramble to get the payment in, depending on the timing of the shut down. I prefer to leave the mortgage on auto pay.

Paying mortgage might be an easy way to get rid of MOs.

Be aware you might be giving up a discount on your interest rate if you do this. Many banks offer a discount if paid from their checking accounts. If you set this up long ago you might have forgotten this is in place.

The difference is that one way can earn points, the other does not.

You don't earn any points paying bills with BB. You earn points when you load it. No matter what you do with BB funds, its all the same.

I agree - Dallas is wide open for me. I can go to my choice of 10 different CVS's on my way home from McKinney to Plano and they all have them.
