RIP Venmo.....deal
Just got an email from venmo:
Starting May 1st for you (and starting today for new users),
To continue using Venmo for free, you must switch to bank payments.
If you still want to use your credit card, you can set it as your funding source, but you will be charged 3% to cover credit card processing fees.

But your "friends" can still send up to the first $500 for free:
"When you're signing up your friends, you should know that they can send their first $500 from their credit card for free."
At least that's how I interpret it.

Venmo's on my S*** list anyway, I pay my wife $2,000/mo to cover my portion of our mortgage but they noticed she was logging in from a foregin country to withdraw the payment and said they don't support that and froze the withdrawal.
She told them they were wrong, she's a US citizen using a US bank who happens to be living outside the US temporarily (with me of course), and, their website does in fact, support it (seeing as how it had been the last 5-6 months without problems).
They finally admitted that they just didn't want to let it happen and that they were missing their 3% from the credit card.
I don't mind them doing it (they have to because it makes business sense) but don't use thinly veiled lies.... no respect for them.

So since the "free" miles earning portals like venmo and the mint are gone, which is the cheapest way to "buy" miles?
It is good to know venmo will charge 3% for Amex transactions, at least it is a choice if you need to top off an account last minute or need to meet a mimum spend in which the benefit will be more than the 3% fee.

Paypal is coming out with a card reader similar to Square:
https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mp...it-card-reader
I'm not advocating using it to run up charges. Just FYI
